Baby Nearly Plunges to Death after Mom Leaves Tot with Brothers

Zeroboss

BalconyRiddle me this, parents of PBB: Would you leave a 9-month old babe in the care of her 10-year-old and 13-year-old brother? If not, then you’re a step ahead of this unnamed mom in Denver, Colorado, whose baby girl nearly fell to her death after the boys left her attended in their apartment. According to reports, the woman’s daughter crawled out the front door, and was next seen hanging by a single hand off of a balcony nearly 19 feet off of the sidewalk. A neighbor who was walking by, thank the gods, noticed the girl, and caught her after she lost her grip.

Now, I’ll cut the mom a little slack here. She was, reportedly, at work. Her decision to leave a baby in the charge of young kids was probably influenced by the lack of affordable child care. Still, most 13-year-olds are not mature enough to care for a baby. Most kids don’t start babysitting until they’re 14 – and even then, few parents recommend putting infants in their care. Let me put it this way: would you be able to work unperturbed, knowing your baby’s life was in the hands of your average 13-year-old?

This mother is sooooooo LAME! WHY? Your older children are not responsible for caring for their younger siblings! That baby was her responsiblity and her’s alone! I understand child care can be pricey but my childrens lives are PRICELESS! How could she be so stupid to risk the possibility? Does she not know her own children? Does she not pay attention to the maturity of her older children? Sheesh!

Lol. Actually, one would think that most thirteen-year-olds would be capable of making sure their baby sister didn’t fly off a frickin’ balcony. Lots of five-year-olds are able to insure that much.
    Still, though. Babysitters FTW.

no way. I was 11 when i started babysitting. I even had to spend the night watching a 2-year-old when I was 11 AND i at one time had to call the police because the girl’s father was trying to break into the apartment and take her. (he was not allowed to see her).

Those brothers should have been watching their little sister. That’s part of being a big sibling is being responsible for your younger siblings. The only thing wrong with the mother is that she should have drilled into the big brothers’ heads that they do NOT let her out of their sight.

Accidents happen. Could it have actually been an accident, and not a incodent of child abuse???? yep.
