Father pleads guilty to rape of 1-day-old daughter
PBB Tipper Shanna has sent in this article about Jonathan Goodrum, a 19 year old man who has pleaded guilty of raping his 1-day-old daughter.
1-day-old and still in the hospital, after a routine examination, vaginal tears were found on the infant. Police are only saying the tears were made with an “unknown object”.
The mother, Kristina Sawyer, 18, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of failure to report child abuse. It’s currently unclear what her involvement in this incident was. The guilty plea, to me, suggests she at least knew of the incident, but again, this is unknown.
He was sentenced to 10 years, minus the 11 months he has already served. I’m not exactly sure how this could happen, but… *sigh* the remaining 9 years of his sentence will just be probation?! Does this mean he will have only served 11 months for this? Somehow my brain is having trouble processing this information…
He’s not allowed to see his daughter, though it is unclear as to whether this applies to his other daughter, now 1-year-old. He’ll also have to register as a sex offender and see a psychiatrist.
To me, this seems to be a case where the punishment doesn’t match the crime. If anyone has any additional information on this case, please send it in!

This is for Just Do It on your posting dated March 20, 2007 @ 8 PM I totally agree with you on this. However if you take that away the person will just find some other object in which to molest or rape again. They just need to shoot his sorry ass and the mothers for allowing this to happen. This would save the baby from any more hurt they can physically cause her and save us tax payers a hell of a lot of money. Hell I will gladly buy the gun and bullets….

This is for all bloggers…..We are all forgetting a part of the story… The oldest daughter that nastey skanky scum bag had what ever happened to her ??? Does anyone care??? Well I have the answer…She is with her bio dad and step mother who love her very much and treat her like the princess she is…And as for as the ” victum” she is okay to my knowlde the physco aunt who is just as crazy as the mother still have custody.. And their are lots of other things that lead up to what happened when the baby was bord.. The dad and step mom of the other child was fighting for custody of the oldest child and the mother did not and doesnot give 2 flips about either child and yes I am close to the oldest childs dad and { lets not call her step} mom and their was many times D C S came in not only on kristina but Donna as well because she knew what was happening the entire time jonathan use to toucher the oldest child so what did they expect for him to do to the little one… the enitre family needs shot!!!!!!!!!!!

All right, I don’t want to start a fight here, or offend anyone. I just want to play devil’s advocate and offer up a little food for thought:
What if Mr. Goodrum is mentally ill? I don’t think I have enough information here to really decide if this man is sane enough to be held accountable for his actions. I’m just throwing that out there. Of course this is terrible, but we have to resist the knee-jerk reaction of (insert horrible torture) and behave like civilized people.

All I have to say is not a damn one of you have a thought in the world for the child. You don’t think at some point in her life she may run across this? She is going to see everything your selfish little souls thought it would be okay to post cause you know best. You think anything you have to say is okay? You think you have to right to judge her family so harshly? Maybe one or two of you have been a victim. You have no clue how this child will feel or react to what has happened to her. But you think in your better then thou life you have the right to speak so harshly against her family. How ever you feel makes no difference. I have my opinions about what has happened but I know if this world is to amount to anything I have no right to speak them here. You attack her Aunt harshly yet you forget that is who this child loves. If you care about any treatment of any child you would take the time to think how someone else might precieve what you say. Posting here in such harsh format is not what is best for the child. For once people think about what you do in the name of whats is best for a child. Think hard just because your an adult doesn’t make you automatically right.

I do agree this sounds really sick. But knowing things from both sides of the fence, it is really wrong…but what about all the ppl who get caught up in things that they really arent apart of…someone just lost his child…over something that i am for sure he didnt do…

Ah…, the injustice of the Good Ole’ US court system. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy to know child rapists of one day old babies get off with 11 months while eight year old kids are being put in jail for 10 years for killing their father and father’s friend, based on circumstantial evidence (at best).
How could the doctor (or mother for that matter ‘my baby looks hurt, oh well, it doesn’t look like she’ll need stitches’) not know this had happened? Are there not cameras to tell us? Did the resident nurses all decide to take a smoke at the exact same time? Did the baby not scream?
Besides all this, coming from his point of view, don’t you think it would be at least a little unsatisfying? “Shit man! It doesn’t fit, and I forgot the lube! I know! I’ll just try and force it and gouge my infants intestines along the way!”

I agree with kelli, how can you hope god helps the child, when god allowed it to happen? Why does god get all the credit when everything goes right, but never when anything bad comes along? What about Darfur? Doesn’t god care about the innocents there? What about Cancer, AIDS, HIV, Schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, leeches, tapeworms, serial killers, child molesters, rapists, advanced and complex weapons of torture, war? Why is god exempt from the bad? Can anyone explain this logically or rationally?

apparently God is getting the blame at least from you. God did not put us here so he would have to spend his time handing things to us on a platter. Bow down?! This is logic! To ‘thank the lord!’ every time something good happens, wouldn’t be justice to the people who actually did the work!
When a doctor saves someones life, people thank their ‘divine creator’, when firemen get everyone out of a collapsing building it is god who allowed them to do it.
When a serial killer goes on the rampage, god isn’t blamed for the psychotic break, when a patient dies in the hospital, it isn’t blamed on god, it is blamed on the guy who was trying to save their life!
It doesn’t make any sense! if god is real, he has the power to prevent it, but doesn’t. he could get rid of the devil, it is within his power, but doesn’t. This sounds more like they are working together!
Christianity, Judaism, Islam… they all preach the same political power the western civilization gave up centuries ago! They don’t believe in a democracy, they believe in a dictatorship. Is that what we want after having it prove time and again it is one of the worst types of ruling class?

god doesn’t get the blame! There are only two kinds of god that could exist other than the anti-semitic one in the Koran. The kind, forgiving, and merciful god, or the unforgiving, cruel, and sadistic god. Both are omnipotent.
My previous comment practically annihilates any argument for the former, and that leaves the god who acts exactly like satan. (whats the difference really?)

Ok so just a Quick update.. Both of the girls are doing great both are love by their Moms and Dads.. They are not seen by either of the Physco baby rapist and every one watch your kids because both are walking free to do it again!!!!

This guy – and other of his ilk – should have their sexual organs removed, preferably by having them torn from their bodies. This would mean they are unable to repeat this kind of sick act. My blood boils to think some decent folk – people who would love a child very much – can’t have kids, yet idiots ike this see them opnly as a kind of new sex toy. I wonder if he did this to his other daughter, without discovery? Chances are he did. I’d vote for the reinstatement of capital punishment (here in the UK) in cases such as this.

This is way late but there is a bigger problem than what has been mentioned here. Obviously this guy is a sick piece of shit who should die. However, another overlooked problem is Children’s Services. They are so inept and corrupt especially in the state of Tennessee, it is ridiculous. They don’t go hard after shitballs like this guy but yet they will set up an innocent person in a second. They don’t care about fact finding.

10 years what are they trying to promote it ,If i was the judge of this case I would have this bastard torture till his dead, kept hime alive for 24hrs torture after toruture and finally kill hime . What sick mind those this to aan angel. What the damm is wrong with the laws ???
