Miriam Gallegos and Boyfriend Angel Ray Montoya Held in the Death of Two-Year-Old Niveah Gallegos
Last Friday, Miriam Gallegos, 20, called Denver police to report that her two-year-old daughter, Niveah Gallegos, was kidnapped by two men in a car – one a redheaded white man. Police quickly learned that Gallegos’s boyfriend, Angel Ray Montoya, 22, had called Gallegos at work to get her to come home. When she arrived, the toddler wasn’t breathing, so instead of calling 911, Gallegos and Montoya put the girl in a plastic bag. Montoya left and disposed of the body.
Volunteers searched the area around their Denver neigborhood looking in dumpsters for the little girl’s body. On Monday, the city of Denver cancelled trash pickup to give police more time to find Niveah. After almost three full days of searching, Niveah’s body was found in a nearby ravine.
Gallegos is being held in the Denver County Jail on a $500,000 bond for false reporting, accessory to a crime and child abuse resulting in death. Montoya, who is a convicted sex offender, is being held in the Denver County Jail without bond for first-degree murder. The couple should be formally charged early next week, and are on a suicide watch.
Montoya was investigated previously for sexually abusing Nevaeh. In July 2006, Niveah was found to be bleeding in her diaper. She was examined at the Denver Family Crisis Center where doctors confirmed that the Niveah, who was only 23 months old, showed signs of sexual assault and had been penetrated. However, because of the lack of physical evidence and since Gallegos refused to cooperate against her boyfriend, no charges were filed.
I hope these two serve in prison for a long, long time – especially Gallegos. As a mother, she should have protected her daughter from a man who was sexually abusive. Since she didn’t, a beautiful little girl is now dead.

Poor little darling. The mother should rot in hell. She knew that the dickhead boyfriend raped that baby and she not only stayed with him but helped him to get away with it. Not only do these assholes need to be charged with murder – they should both be charge with sexual assault. WHAT ANIMALS!!! There is no punishment that fits this crime……

I’m not saying that what he or his girlfriend did was right but . when there is someone who is sick in there head like he is . they should go to mental facility not be out on the streets haveing girlfriends that have children . If anyone is to blame it should be his fucken mother she knew he was sick in the head like this , she also failed to take him in and have him registered as a sex offender . She should be charged with this shit to . she as a mother should have stopped this . And had she done so that baby would still be alive today .My prayer goes out to the little girl and the Family members on her side . And yeah you people are right the fucken mother should rot in fucken hell . She should not have allowed him to be any where around her baby girl . Thanks for your input – but I don’t think his mother is to blame. He is an adult. He knew he had to register as a sex offender. He is a fucking monster and so is Miriam. Even after he killed that baby, she had his back – what the fuck is that all about. I’m with you in the fact that if he had laid a hand on my child it would have been an ambulance picking his ass up… Not a cop car.

Let’s face it – Miriam is more to balme than his own mother. She was supposed to protect that baby with her life and she failed. I do agree that his mother should face charges if she knew he had access to a child. Maybe she didn’t know. I dunno – I’m not going to judge her yet….

Why wasn’t this baby taken away from these monsters to begin with? How could they still have her? This poor baby, just looking at her picture makes me want to hold her close and never let anything hurt her, but these bastards made sure no one will ever be able to. How could any mother choose a man over their own babies? I vote years of excruciating tourture before feeding them to the ‘gators.

There is currently a case, I’m not sure which state it’s in, where a child rapsit was given the death penalty. His atty’s are fighting this stating it’s cruel and unusual punishment to give the death penalty for that crime. I disagree.
I think that anyone who sexually molests, rapes, fondles etc. a child who has not yet reached puberty should be elligible for the death penatly.
I don’t believe these people can be successfully treated. I also don’t feel I should have to support them.
I think rape is a heinous crime in itself, but I think it speaks something about a person who wants to have sex with someone who hasn’t sexually matured.
I wouldn’t consider a person who wants to have sex with a developed child (a 113-?? Year old who has started growing pubes, or breasts) to be a pedophile, tho they are still sick.
I feel that people who seek sex with SEXUALLY mature (ing) children are not pedophiles, but are people who are themselves so emotionally immature that they feel that’s the only way they’ll get laid. So, while I still feel it’s a crime, i feel it’s a different KIND of crime.
I would love to see the death penalty used in cases such as this.

Nope, sorry. This time I can’t agree with the people who say let them kill themselves. I want these two to suffer a long, long, loooonnnnggg time in jail at the hands of their fellow prisoners before they go on to meet their maker. I’m willing to pay a few extra tax dollars for the satisfaction of knowing these two will get a taste of the treatment they inflicted on this little girl. Send me the bill.

Oh good GOD! I just read the link in April’s post. What the F*** is wrong with this country when we hold foreigners forever without charges if we just SUSPECT them of being terrorists but we let probable child murderers walk free?
And the D.A. is saying they won’t flee because they’re “grieving the loss of a child” ???? WTF???
Does he/she really think these two are grieving over the death they caused? They may be grieving that they got caught but they’re probably glad the kid is out of their hair. Or maybe the male (he doesn’t deserve to be called a “man”) is missing the fun he had molesting her.
But “grieving”??? I doubt it. Grief is for people who have souls, something these two are obviously lacking.

The stupid mother admitted to the cops that he called her at work to come home because the baby was dead. She helped him get rid of the baby and told the cops she was kidnapped. Once the cops caught on to her – she sung like a bird. What a bitch!!! I would have kileed that f*cker for putting his hands on my baby and dealt with the cops later. I blame her. WTF?!?!? He had already been convicted of almost killing another girlfriend’s 5 year old son!! He only got 18 MONTHS PROBATION for that!!! and now he is OUT again?!?!?! Are these judges ASLEEP?!?! I say the next judge that lets him out should also be required to have him babysit THEIR loved ones.

I noticed both Nivaeh and Nevaeh. I was wondering if the mother purposely decided to change the spelling or if it was a typo or something. I once read an article about how the popularity of Nevaeh as a name skyrocketed after some musician announced his new baby’s name during a concert, saying it was “Heaven spelled backwards.”

I knew this girl personally, since middle school. I haven’t seen her in years and to find out what she let happen to her own little girl is just so sad.
People like this and many others do NOT deserve the miracle of being able to have a baby. There are people that hope and pray to be able to give birth one day and be a GOOD parent. Then psycos like this are throwing them away.

I really think that people should be screened before they are allowed to have a baby. And if they arent fit they should be sterilized. And if they get past the screening the first offense they commit they should be sterlized. There are so many people in this world who want a baby and cant have one but these monsters can have them left and right.

I knew Miriam personally and i would never think she could do that to her daughter. Why would never hurt my daughter she is my everything and i wouldnt know what to do with out her. How could you protect some one that didnt just hurt your daughter but killed her i think she should suffer but she aint going to feel the things her daughter had felt when this guy that hurt her. how could you love some one more then your own child? I dont even know what to feel for nevaeh because it hurts to know im never going to see her smile again. The are out free will nevaeh will never grow up the should be in jail suffering they shoudnt be out here having fun. Maria – The “system” failed this child as much as her own mother did. She should have been removed from Miriam’s custody the minute she wouldn’t cooperate with prosecuting the boyfriend for sexually assaulting her. Selfish. They have released an update on little Neveah’s autopsy. It seems that they have confirmed that she was physicaly abused -Well, DUH!! Now I guess it goes to the DA to decide if they will bring charges against the mother and BF. Is that something that has to be decided??? if charges are NOT brought against these to mosters – Then the DA should be charged for failing to bring justice to this little girl!!
