Chained and tortured California teen
Aunt faces charges in shackled teen mystery:
That headline makes it sound like an episode of Scooby-Doo rather than a blatant violation of someone’s basic human rights.
Anyway, I’m sure by now you’ve heard about the 17-year-old California boy who was being held against his will and escaped his captors. There are a lot of Bad Breeders to go around in this story.
First let’s go to the married couple that were holding the boy captive, Kelly Layne Lau and Michael Luther Schumacher. They had 4 kids of their own, ages 1, 3, 7 and 9, in the same house where they kept a 17-year-old shackled against his will. How did that work? ‘Honey, don’t touch the prisoner, he’s dirty.’
Not to mention that her ‘About Me’ from her MySpace says…
30 yr. old mom of 4 beautiful kids. Happily married to a man who I love to death. He is my best friend and a wonderful father to our 4 kids and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in this world. We live in Northern California where I am a stay at home mom and my husband is a Contractor. We have a typical life I guess-our oldest daughter is involved with Girl Scouts and is our Ballerina in training. My boys just kick back and wait there turn to do something fun. We have a dog named BUBBA and no white picket fence but our neighbor has one. LOL!!!!!!
Obviously she left off the part where they have a teenager chained in a pit.
Now let’s turn to the boy’s recently arrested and looks like dude aunt, 43-year-old Carmen Ramirez. Social workers took the boy from his abusive father. So he then goes to live with his aunt. She in turn gets arrested for abusing the boy. Then the boy gets placed in a foster home. He runs away from the foster home and ends up back with crazy Aunt Carmen who somehow convinces Lau and Schumacher to help keep him chained up. Who in the blue hell has a thought process like that?
If it was one lone person who held the boy I wouldn’t be surprised. If it was a couple I’d be a little perplexed. But three freakin’ people all considered chaining up a 17-year-old boy a good idea?
And you know the excuses from either the suspects or the defense attorneys are going to be some good ones. I can almost hear them now blaming the victim. They’ll say he was a wild child that had behavioral problems and they couldn’t keep him under control. And that will just be for starters.

I wonder if the dog “Bubba” on her myspace page is actually the 17 year old boy??? Seriously though, what a horribly tragic story!!!

The articles make the victim out to be a saint, though of course what they did is wrong, I suspect this teenager was a raving, violent, young man with psychotic tendencies. I’ve dealt with them first hand in the clinic I work, and I can empathize with how difficult it can be raising one.

As you may notice from my posts, I’m a social worker that is almost burned out. Young prostitutes, self destructive drug users, violent devil childs…it is easy to blame the parents, but I’ve seen situations where the best intending parents have to deal with a child I’d abandon after 3 days, or resort to beating. That’s how our parents kept us inline. Take this for example, after months of a 14 year old boy beating and stabbing his mother almost weekly, the father had enough. He gave him a solid smacking. Well, the boy went to the cops and got his father arrested. I had to be the boys advocate and present a report to the court…I’m ashamed to say that I saw evil in that boy and I wanted to help the father. Before you flame me, yes, I am looking for other work, I can’t take this anymore…

The question I ask is why,if he was the way you say, would he be like that? Could it be because his father abused him and then his aunt abused him??? Then he went into foster care and we all know how alot of foster parents are with these kids!!! I’m not bashing you Alexia, but, you do need to find another line of work if you are putting the blame on the child!!!

OK THIS IS THE PROBLEM EVERYONE IS OVER LOOKING!!! I PERSONALLY WENT TO HER MYSPACE PAGE ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND (THE MINUTE IT HIT THE NEWS) B4 THEY DELETED THE PAGE. THE 4 CHILDREN THAT ARE HERS…2 GIRLS AND 2 BOYS..THERE WERE PICS. OF ALL 4 OF HER KIDS ON HER MYSPACE PAGE.OMG THE GIRLS LOOK GREAT AND HEALTHY BUT THEN THE BOYS LOOK CONFUSED,ABUSED,AND DISTURBED. WANNA SEE THE PICS. COME OVER TO MYSPACE AND ASK TO SEE THEM…SCABS ALL OVER THEM LIKE CRAZY (BOYS ONLY) AND I STOLD THEM FROM HER PAGE ONTO MY HARD DRIVE. YEA ONLY THE BOYS. PERIOD. LOOKED REAL BAD,NOT THE GIRLS.THE 1 YEAR OLD BOY HAD SCABS FROM HIS TOES TO THE TOP OF HIS HEAD. I ALSO HAVE HIS 1 YR. B-DAY PICS. WHERE HIS MOMMY SAID UNDER THE PIC. “LET MOMMY HELP YOU” AND THE NEXT PIC. THE CAKE WAS COMPLETELY IN HIS FACE THATS ALL YOU SEE IS HER HAND AND THE CAKE IN HIS FACE.
THEN THE NEXT PIC. WAS HIM SCREAMING AND YOU COULD SEE THE CAKE UP HIS NOSE IN HIS EYES,EVERYWHERE. OMG.IT WAS HORRIFIC,
HE IS 1 NOT 21..OMGOSH…
AND YOU CAN BET THAT HER OWN BOYS WOULD HAVE BEEN NEXT TO HIT THE OLE BASEMENT WITH THE CHAIN ON THERE LEGS. I WAS ABSALUTELY HORRIFIED AND AM STILL HAUNTED BY THE BABY BOYS CONDITIONS.
MY FRIEND CALLED THE FBI AND TOLD THEM WE HAD THESE PICS IN CASE THEY DIDNT SEE THEM BEFORE HER FRIEND OR WHOEVER..DELETED HER PAGE. IT MIGHT HAVE EVEN BEEN TOM FROM MYSPACE,I DON’T KNOW BUT THEY WERE GONE AS SOON AS MY GIRLFRIEND AND I POSTED THIS BULLETIN ABOUT HER PAGE.
SOOOOO,HOWEVER THIS CHILD ACTED,IT DOES NOT MAKE IT OK TO HOLD A CHILD IN CAPTIVITY WHICH IS WHAT THEY WERE DOING.LIKE AN ANIMAL CHAINED TO SOMETHING THAT PREVENTS THEM FROM GOING AWAY MORE THAN A CPL. FEET.(IF THAT)
