Left on burner kills twins

Trench Reynolds

Mom not home, gas burners left on as fire kills 18-month-old twins:

A woman in Houston turned on two gas burners in her house then left leaving her 18-month-old twins home alone. Since you’re reading this here you can guess what happened.

While she was out the house caught fire claiming the lives of the twins.

Police have released her after questioning and have not yet charged her with a crime?

My question to you dear reader is this. Was this intentional or just idiotic? Either way shouldn’t she be charged?

Thanks to Eliza for the tip.

This is criminal stupidity and possibly more. She should definitely be charged, at least with manslaughter. Why the HELL would she turn on two burners on the stove then leave her twin babies alone, asleep on a couch (instead of in their cribs) at 12 a.m.? Where did she have to go at that hour that was worth leaving her babies alone?

And as a mother, I totally do not understand wasting your time banging on a neighbor’s door rather than plunging into that burning apartment to either rescue your babies or die trying.

Intentional!!! I mean, one burner, I can see… maybe… but who preheats a burner? She was overwhelmed, and again, instead of dealing with the paperwork of getting help, oops, my little responsibilities are DEAD and GONE.
Why do they not teach useful things like parenting, budgeting, filling out tax forms, how to do paperwork, where to get help in SCHOOL?

yes, at the very least she should be charged with neglect of her dependents for leaving them alone in the middle of the night. i’m confused as to why she would turn on the burners? if she had been at home and there was no heat in the house i could understandthe oven on a very high temp…turning it off…and opening the oven door to warm the home. but….two burners? was there something on the stove that she had been cooking and forgot to turn it off? even if it were intentional…did she place something cloth or paper next to the burner so that it could catch fire thus burning the place down? very strange. yes, she should be charged in their deaths.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it were intentional. If it’s not, it’s malevolent gross stupidity. You don’t leave your twin toddlers alone at night and turn the gas burners on before you go unless you’re pure evil or a pure idiot. Both are something we need less of in the world today, especially in politics and in parents.

The thing about the word intentional is this, did she want her children to die? If the answer is no then it wasn’t intentional, BUT it was neglectful, she is an adult so she knows better. Either way, the punishment should be harsh. I guess it takes no brains to concieve a child but to raise one it does.

Funny thing Mare is I was taught those things in school but that was many years ago.

While there isn’t enough evidence to certifiably say this was intentional, there should be very severe punishment for being a neglectful parent.

It seems clear that she intentionally left two babies alone. It seems clear that she intentionally left burners on. Does that mean she intended the babies to die? I suppose not, but she should still be charged with as many crimes as they can wring out of this one–child neglect, endangerment, manslaugher, anything. She’s one I wish we could stop from ever having children again, because whether she is an intentional murderer or not, she doesn’t deserve kids.

Thats just idiotic yet unbeliveable. Why TWINS , its just of a matter with one child buring up. But two at the same time , horrible. One child , that would be about 2 or 3 years in prison. Twins are like 4 or 5 years, or a DEATH scentence if they burned up so bad you couldnt see their face. Its horrible how these parents around these days dont care about what they’re doing to other humans, hardly able to even talk. Its amazing how they can get up in the morning and not fele guilty about what they have done some people.

There is absolutely no reason she should need to leave the house without the kids. I run a daycare out of our house, and there’ve been times when I was caught short and didn’t have certain supplies I needed for the kids – juice, fruit, jam, crackers, etc… I’ve bundled kids up and gone to the store. Yes, it’s a PITA to haul 18 month old twins around a grocery store (I know, I’ve done it with their big brother and my own son in tow) but it CAN be done.

    This had to be intentional.

I hope this stupid Bitch fries in Hell, the same way her little ones did! If ever there was a reason for mandatory sterilization, here’s one!

Had to be intentional. Who in their right mind leaves 28 month old babies home alone? Burners on or not (although leaving the burners on makes it way worse). Did she think they would wake up to make smores? People like this give young mothers a bad name everyday. I am 24 years old me and my husband have 3 kids 6,4, and 2. I would never consider leaving them home alone! Ever no matter the emergency, and if there was a fire I would die trying to get my kids out of the house

    How can someone do this?

I have a 7-year-old son. My husband works evenings. I’m able to wait until hubby gets home if I want to grab a bite to eat somewhere! I refuse to leave him home alone. He might feel abandoned, something could catch on fire–any number of things!

The story tells us it was (2) gas burners and the
mother leaves twins alone. I’m wondering if the
mother is telling the truth, in her comment to the
police, (the girls, were sleeping). I can’t imagine
leaving (1) 18 month old alone- let alone, leaving
2 of them alone, asleep or awake. Regardless, of
why she left 2 gas burners on, she is responsible,
for the safety and welfare of those twins, and she
should be held accountable for her gross neglect.
