Oh the weather outside is frightful
Laurens boy exposed to cold is taken from parents:
37-year-old Eugene G. Lane and his 30-year-old bride Stacy Joe Lane of Laurens, Iowa were cited and released for child endangerment. Their 7-year-old son was found walking the streets of Lauren in boots with no socks, jeans with no underwear, a T-shirt and a light winter jacket. Did I mention that it was -8 degrees in Lauren with a wind chill of -39? And oh yeah, he was taken by DHS. Their four other kids remained in the ‘parents’ custody.
The child was shivering so bad when someone found him that he could barely even speak.
No word on why he had walked a half mile like that.

That ones a difficult one. maybe the kid was running away. Granted his parents should have wondered where he was. But I know when I was seven I ran away once cause I was mad at my mom for saying no to me. there is no excuse but yeah kid might have been running away and just didn’t know what he had to where. Kinda need a little more on this one.

We need more information on this story – Did he sneak out to go to a friends house to play? I have a 9 and a 7 year old and I can tell you that they don’t always think clearly at that age. My 7 year old has gone outside plenty of times without permission because he wanted to play outside. He got into plenty of trouble when we realized where he was. It does not take long to go 1/2 mile. Kids at that age are fairly independant and it would not be uncommon for the parents to trust that the kids are playing quietly in their room and to let 1-2 hours go by without actually doing a headcount to see where everyone is. That would not make them bad parents. Anyone who says otherwise is either being dishonest or is smothering their children by constantly watching their every move.
