Police: Shoplifting mother caught with parenting book:

37-year-old Callie Rough of Oxford, Ohio was caught shoplifting with her two kids in tow. One of the items she allegedly took was a book entitled “101 Ways to Be a Great Mom.”

Maybe she should have thumbed through it before trying to take it from the store.

while i don’t condone shoplifting- especially with your children there!- she reportedly shoplifted the following: wash clothes, small hand towels, a small rug and a book and the male that was with her had garbage bags on him. does this sound like a horrible parent to you? not to me. yes she needs to be in trouble for breaking the law if she is found guilty but really does she need to be the subject of PBB?

    A. She was shoplifting. That puts her in danger of losing her kids.

    B. She had her kids with her while committing a crime which almost guarantees losing your kids.

    C. A responsible parent would have found a legal way to get those items.

What a stupid list of items to shoplift! I could feel sorry for her if she was shoplifting costly essentials like diapers or food, but washcloths? Hand towels? Garbage bags?

Yes, that DOES sound like a horrible parent. It sounds like a parent who was stealing either for the “fun of it” or because she’s a compulsive thief. Either way, she’s an unfit parent because of it.

And what a horrible example to set for your kids – that stealing is OK and taking stupid risks that could cost you everything is also OK.

Oh my word! That’s pretty funny. At least she was trying. That puts her a few steps above the people who beat the crap out of their kids.

I’d like to know their financial situation before I pass too harsh a judgement on them. Yes, shoplifting is a crime and she could lose her kids. Yes, it is REALLY stupid to take your kids along while you break the law. And, yes, a responsible parent would do her best to find a legal way to obtain goods. Hopefully, some financial assistance and some parenting classes will help this family. Could be they were going to get to the food aisle but got caught before??? I dunno. People are nuts.

no it is because food stamps wont pay for those kinds of items,
