Australian boy died from ear infection in house full of crap

Trench Reynolds

The definition of crap is up to you…

Sick boy died in Adelaide house of squalor:

In October of 2006 10-year-old Jarrad Roberts of Adelaide, South Australia was taken to a health clinic with a fever, pain in his neck and bleeding from his ear. The clinic said he had an ear infection for five days and they recommended he be taken immediately to the hospital. Instead Jarrad’s birth organism took him home and gave him antibiotics which I would lay odds were prescribed for something not even remotely related to an ear infection. Jarrad collapsed minutes later. He died only a few hours later at the hospital.

When police and the coroner went to investigate the house you can pretty much guess what they found. The house was filled with garbage, rotting food, and feces. You can get all the nasty details in the article. I won’t go into them because I just ate.

An inquest has been launched by Australian officials into why Jarrad did not receive proper medical treatment.

I can save the Australian taxpayers a lot of money. The reason he didn’t receive proper medical treatment is because his so-called mother is an unfeeling idiot. Bleeding from the ear is usually a sign that something is gravely wrong. And how can someone who claims to be a parent leave their child in pain for five days like that?

Thanks to Stacey for the tip.

THat poor kid… Im gonna bet he was sick with an ear infection for more than 5 days for it to get to that point! And they are terribly painful. Poor guy. I couldnt imagine letting my children suffer like that (and they both have chronic ear infections)! Its just miserable. ANd how can anyone live like that?? Its just beyond me. UGH.

Sick! I just don’t understand stories like this. I imagine that a child having any type of illness would just be escalated to the point of severe infection fairly quickly due to all the nasty filth they were forced to live in. Pigeon crap on the furniture and using t-shirts as toilet paper…gross! That poor little boy! I just hope that nasty skank gets what’s coming to her.

    Poor little boy!

I’ve had an ear infection as an adult and I can tell you, it is extremely painful. How someone could let their child endure that kind of pain and then not seek appropriate medical attention on top of that is so far beyond me. Oh, and how they were living is so f*cking nasty…that sweet little angel is in a better place now.

That sick fuck must’ve actually hated her son. There is no excuse for not taking that poor kid to the hospital for ear infection. Jarrad Roberts’ so-called mom is a truly fat ugly bloated bitch that cares only about herself and I hope she gets her big fat ass beaten down by her inmates cuz even inmates hate child abusers. R.I.P. Jarrad Roberts, you’re safe now.

    Take a look at this:

    http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25215261-2702,00.html

This family had been reported to authorities FOURTEEN TIMES before. FOURTEEN. No one did a thing.

I hope to God they take his sister out of that home.

Ugh… another dead kid… another crappy parent… this stuff never ends, does it. so sad.

  • Julie in NC Says:

This is sad, but I’m leaning toward- the mother is mentally ill. That is why the condition of the house got so bad; this was a very extreme & tragic case of mental illness; the not leaving the house & letting trash pile up are symptoms, not intentional child abuse. A person in this situation finds it hard to do the things that are normal to us. She needs support & encouragement; not hate. I hope that her community rallies around her & makes sure that she and her daughter get the help that they both desperately need!!

  • Angel Says:

Nice thought, Julie, but that bird doesn’t fly in these woods. I have suffered from severe depression in the past, but never, let me repeat that – NEVER – would I let a child of mine die as a result of my problem. There are too any drugs out there that would alleviate the depression, for this walking uterus to be entitled to sympathy for her actions.

Where was the father? Why didn’t he notice the condition of the home and children, and do something about it? If the authorities had been called FOURTEEN times already, why were the children still even there?

Regardless of what culpability (if any) any other organization, government, or individual may have had, the mother is responsible for this travesty. By virtue of being the primary caregiver, she should be held accountable.

  • Angel Says:

And, I hope that if her community does “rally around her”, that they do so armed with sticks and stones with which to help instruct her in the proper way to raise and care for children.

  • Julie in NC Says:

Wow, is that how you teach your children?? “with sticks and stones”!!

  • Angel Says:

No, Julie, that’s how you punish a child abuser. Don’t twist my words as you are attempting to twist this woman’s actions to reflect them on to society at large. Most of society does not neglect and abuse their children to the point of death; and laying the blame for this woman’s heinous lack of regard for her child’s life on the community in which she lives is simply wrong. Get a clue.

  • Samantha Says:

    Ugh my comment didnt post…

As I was saying though…. I agree with you Angel.

  • Julie in NC Says:

Talk about twisting words; I never, ever said that the community was in any way responsible for her son dying!! I reread my comment several times TRYING to see how you could even suggest that I was saying that & I just don’t see it. -
My point, read this carefully now, is that it was a tragedy, but she is a mentally ill person who needs HELP, and NOT as you suggested, sticks and stones!! Would you punish someone who has diabetes because they have medical symptoms that were caused by diabetes? No, if you are a friend or family & care about the person then you would probably do anything you can to HELP them. The woman is a person who is mentally ill and needs help, not HATE. -
I was suggesting that her community might step up and help her and her daughter; not because it is their fault she has problems, but because it is caring and charitable, and simply because it is the right thing to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
