Girl set on fire during voodoo ritual
Prosecutors: Queens mom Marie Lauradin performed voodoo fire ritual that left daughter, 6, scarred:
29-year-old Marie Lauradin and 70-year-old Sylvenie Thessier of Queens, New York have been arrested for setting Lauradin’s daughter in fire with rum during a voodoo ritual. The ritual was supposed to drive the evil spirits out of 6-year-old Frantzcia Saintil.
If that wasn’t bad enough they gave the girl a bath which must have caused her even more pain and then they waited a day before taking the girl to a hospital.
Lauradin at first claimed that she didn’t even know her daughter had burns until they got to the hospital. She also tried claiming that the girl was scalded in an accident. Again, the hospital knows more than you. Also Frantzcia ratted out her mother and grandmother herself.
Mom is looking at 25 years, grandma is looking at 7.

I appreciate religious freedom. I appreciate the ability to worship God without having people tell me I can’t (although, this “right” seems to be diminishing for Christians). However, I DO NOT condone any religion that thinks setting a kid on fire is a good thing… or sacrificing a kid or torturing kids or so on. Dousing a kid with rum and setting her on fire is not going to chase out evil spirits. Dousing a kid with run and setting her on fire WILL cause severe burns, permanent scarring, possibly the loss of mobility… Oh, let’s not forget excruciating, unbearable pain.
Glad to see they’re both going to serve some time. Hope the child recovers. Idiots.

Why is the grandma only looking at 7 years? If the grandma helped with the ritual, she should be held just as accountable as the birth organism. With any luck,she would die while incarcerated, and not have another opportunity to ‘chase out evil spirits’ – except maybe her own. And maybe if they put both women in the same cell, the grandma could do a ritual cleansing on the mother, and both of them would be gone. Kill two birds with one stone, if you will…..

it makes me sick to know that parents can be so cold as to lite there own daughter on fire and for the grandmother to watch and not try to stop her daughter from doing that to her grand daughter is just mid evil! people like this should be in prison for at least 50 years or more!
