Florida woman accused of leaving kids home with pit bull
Police: Mom partied while kids stayed home alone with pit bull:
28-year-old (holy crap, she’s only 28?) Mary Ann Ayala of Orlando, Florida was arrested for leaving her kids home alone for 12 hours with her 2-year-old pit bull Scrappy. Her kids are ages 3 and 6.
Neighbors had called police to complain of the kids being left alone and the dog barking at 3am.
While police were investigating Ayala drove up saw police and drove off.
Police located Ayala and she was yelling on her cell phone and telling them, “He left my kids at home. He was taking care of my kids!”
Officers spoke to the person Ayala mentioned, but he said he was never in charge of the children.
The pit bull did not injure the children and may be out up for adoption. The kids are now in the custody of their grandparents.

I operate with these dogs and as far as animal behavior goes, I am a solid believer in nurture and exercising. I have met Jack Russell Terriers that I wouldn’t go around again, but have never had a negative knowledge with an American Staffordshire Terrier. If you’re talking about their owners- nicely, that’s a various story. People are animals as well, and we tend to each have our very own strategies about “moral concepts”.

Actually I think the Pitbull probably was a better caregiver…I have a Pitbull and a Australian Cattle Dog…never would I leave them to “babysit” not that they are not loving but I love being a mom…and they are my kids!

Actually the dog was put down because it was deemed unfit for adoption because of it’s temperament.

Well I am glad that the APBT (Which probably wasn’t one anyways) didn’t injure the kids, that was one more accusation against this poor breed that they don’t need. I really think that specific breeds need to be left out of stories like this, though nothing happened here. A dog is a dog and all dogs bite. Back to the kids…glad they’re safe.

UGH its trash like this that gives pitties a bad rap. The dog was probably in there barking at 3 AM TRYING to get someone to figure out that the kids were all alone.

man, i’d never leave a pitbull alone with my two 4 yr olds for 12 hours!!!! as much as i don’t like pit bulls, it would just be cruel and unusual punishment for the dog!!!!!

Are we sure she wasn’t out working? Looks to me as if she might have been working as an extra on the set of the movie “The Night of the Living Dead”.
Give her kids to someone who will love and appreciate them, and feed her sorry as to the pit bull.

I”m grateful the kids were uninjured. I think I must be blessed with a functional brain. Seems that many people have brain parts missing. How else can explain the fact that they think it’s okay to leave children home while they go out to party? It’s bad enough that parents leave young kids home alone to go to work, but to party?
