I’m sure I’ve said this before but one of the questions I get all the time is people ask me how I keep posting these horrifivc stories without having it affect me. I usually give some flippant answer about how I’ve been doing this for nine years and I’ve become kind of numb to all the atrocities I post. This story isn’t one of them. This story literally makes me want to cry. Rare is the story that pierces my cold black heart.
Since myriads of my readrers have sent me this story I’m sure most of you know it by now. 33-year-old Otty Sanchez of San Antonio, Texas allegedly killed her 3 1/2-week-old son Scott Wesley Buchholtz Sanchez. Killed is too kind of term though, so is murdered. The atrocities that Sanchez inflicted on her newborn son don’t even have a fitting word to describe them.
Sanchez is accused of stabbing her baby son multiple times before decapitating him and skinning him and gutting him. She’s also accused of eating pieces of his brain and some of his toes.
Sanchez tried killing herself by stabbing herself in the chest and abdomen but she survived. She claims that she heard voices and that ‘the devil’ made her do it. The real reason may be because she recently split with the baby’s father.
You know what? I’m too disgusted to write anymore so I’ll leave you with this.
The only devil here is you Otty Sanchez. You deserve the death penalty probably more than anyone I can think of in recent history. I really hope that Texas lives up to its reputation and executes you hastily and with extreme prejudice.

She has severe mental issues…sadly we live in a society where it is hard for anyone to get help and when you do get help your case worker acts as if the world revolves around them. People turn a cheek and act like it is not thier problem until something like this happens. A lot of people say “Well its a shame that this happened and hopefully we can have a better eye out next time.” The only problem is that no one does becasue they feel like they dont have to and then BAM 5 years down the line mom goes nust eats her baby and we are back at square one.
You read a lot about children being beaten beyond submission. SOMEONE SOMEWHERE HEARD THAT CHILD SCREAM. What did they do?? Nothing. I don’t find anything wrong with a good old fashion spanking but, you can tell the difference in the crys and scream for help!!

loving-mom, EXACTLY! why didn’t her sister or someone living nearby (her home appears to be in a suburbian area with homes on either side)
hear anthing? as for the comments on the mental issues, clearly the news reports made some references to her have mental problems prior to pregnancy, and if they were a “garden variety”, whether schizophrenia, hallucinations, whatever, you can pair that with a SEVERE PPD and get really bad results, which is what happened here.
As for a comment about trusting someone with schizophrenia 100% in caretaking her kids, I have to talk from experience on that one. NAMI, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill says that almost 90% of mentally ill people won’t admit it, and I know first-hand, my only sister has it, she was diagnosed many years ago, but is in full-blown denial. I would not leave my child alone with her, because she does have hallucinations, imagines “everyone is out to get her”, and doesn’t “understand” normal behavior much less other everyday life occurrences. So to leave a child alone with her would be inviting disaster, in many ways. I know because I LIVE WITH HER AND AM HER CARETAKER. Schizophrenics’ perception filters are very distorted, and whether child, adult, or pet, they cannot be trusted 100%.
Ms. Sanchez did have a variety of mental problems, and we do not know yet, the full extent of them. What we DO know, it the ramifications of them though. PURE TRAGEDY.

Anyone have any updates as of today on the topic regarding Ms. Sanchez? I hate being so polite when referring to her, but was wondering if anyone heard anything new.

She’s been charged with capital murder, Kathy. I am still looking, but that’s all I have been able to come up with so far. That, and she has been given a psych eval. Don’t know how that turned out either, but my guess would be – not well.

I live in San Antonio and have driven past this woman’s home many times. My friend lives a block down the road from where this atrocity happened. I used to work in an ER and have seen many disturbing things. I thought that I was hardened to death and gore. I was wrong. This is the most despicable crime that I have ever heard of. I have had my ex use my child to hurt me but this crime belongs in the category of things you couldn’t make up. It disgusts me that this woman lives in the same city as me. She deserves to die by order of the state. I don’t care to hear any talk about mental illness or PPD or any other excuses. This woman deserves no other punishment than death. Again, I don’t care if she is the most mentally disabled person on the face of the planet. She needs to be totally eliminated from society. I can only imagine how this little boy’s father feels. He should be in all our prayers.

Rubbish! That article presents Otty Sanchez as a victim. While I might agree with the objective of her statements (Physiological exams of new mothers). I find it insulting that she fails to mention the REAL victims of this crime (the child and his father). I am not a woman hater. I just expect equal treatment of men and women in the great responsibility involved raising a young child in this fucked up world. I believe that all murderers are mentally ill.
