17-year-old Israel Avila of the Brownsville, Texas area has been arrested and charged with the brutal beating death of his own 1-month-old son.
Allegedly Avila got frustrated at his child’s crying (what else is new?) and shoved a pacifier in the child’s mouth before ‘losing it’ and beating the child to death.
Since it is Texas Avila could be eligible for the death penalty. If you read my other crime blog (Trench Reynolds’ Crime News, blatant plug) you know I’m all for trying teens as adults for such heinous crimes and I have no problem with Avila getting the death penalty.
However it didn’t take long for people to start making excuses for Avila.
First off his lawyer claims that Avila is mildly retarded. I am so sick of this argument. Since when did chronically stupid become mildly retarded?
Avila’s family is calling the baby’s violent death an accident even though Avila allegedly admitted to police that he ‘lost it’ and went apeshit on his own son.
So far the 19-year-old mother is not facing any charges.
There’s no excuse here. He’s not mildly retarded. It wasn’t accident. People need to stop enabling violent criminals just because they’re family. If he was really family he wouldn’t have beaten his own son to death.

Oh boy,, a tiny lil guy? I remember my kids and my nephew when they were all only tiny, all I wanted to do was hug them, put them in the bed by me and hug them some more. That usually stops the crying, if they are warm and dry and fed. Moron. Can someone update me on this stain’s trial? BTW my 16 year old nephew is mildly retarded and he has an affinity with young babies that is remarkable. He’s so gentle with babies, and he’s a big fella…

Just an FYI, the 19 yr. old mother and 17 yr. old “father” do not and never lived together. The mother left the baby in the fathers care while she ran some errands. Surprisingly enough the mother had nothing to do with this poor child’s murder.

Yeah, but did she know what a dangerous guy the dad was? If she knew he was ‘off’ in ANY way, she should have never left the baby with him. That would be irresponsible.

I propose a new law: families of murdering assholes who DEFEND those assholes get the same punishment as said assholes.

There is NO excuse for beating a child to death, even if he was “slightly retarded” that still would not excuse the senseless act of dumbass thats in question here. Hooray for the wonderful state of Texas and their beautiful express lane, hope they use it for this dipsh*t. Just like Angel I too am curious as to where the birth organism in all this??? If she had knowledge of this and let it happen I hope she gets torched too. What a waste of flesh this scumbag is. If he manages to escape the death penalty hopefully he will get released into Gen. Pop. in prison so the other inmates can “accidentally” beat his ass to death.

Do you notice a pattern here? Most of the idiots who kill their kids have families who then try to make excuses for them. Because they are not taught personal responsibility at home, they don’t consider the long term consequences of their actions. If they get mad and kill a kid….well, it’s not their fault – is it? The kid shouldn’t have cried/peed/whined/etc., and I wouldn’t have had to hurt him. It’s always the victim’s fault – even if the victim is only a few weeks (or days) old.
I hope they fry him – too bad he can’t be fried twice – he deserves it. I especially love that this dickwart is in Texas….because while most other states are lobbying for the death penalty to be abolished, Texas has installed an express lane. WOOHOO!
Was the baby’s mother present when the child was beaten? If so, she needs to be charged too.
Legal definition of the day: When a lawyer says his client is ‘mildly retarded’, what he means is that his client is in complete denial, with a few lies thrown in for good measure, and his family is backing him.

I LOVE the imagery, Diana, but remember – always use ‘they’ instead of ‘I’ when suggesting punishment for these losers. If someone does actually beat him to death before trial (I hope), you don’t want the authorities knocking on your door, do you?

Anyone who could “go apeshit” oer a tiny baby needs to be kept away from others forever. Nobody is beaten to death by accident.
If you’re not ready to care for babies properly, DON’T HAVE THEM!
