What do a Meat Mallet, a Garlic Crusher, and a Screwdriver all Have in Common?

Apparently they can all be used as disciplinary tools……no, not really. But a Jamaican national residing in Cambridge, in the UK, thought that it would be OK to use these implements to keep the kids in line anyway. She has eight of them – children, I mean. You’d think if she hates kids so much, she would figure out what causes them and have that problem remedied. But no….she just keeps right on poppin’ ‘em out like a pez dispenser.

She was turned in by two of her own children who were finally terrified and terrorized enough to report the abuse to a teacher last year. This slag has been convicted on 18 charges. She would beat the children in the head with the meat mallet and garlic crusher, and brand them with the hot screwdriver. She also used belts and broken coat hangers to beat the children, and once slashed one of the children with a knife. One of the children admitted to considering suicide because of the way they were all treated.

Although social workers were first involved with the family as early as 1999, nothing was done for them until the report was made to the teacher in 2008. I won’t even go there. It makes me too sick – but y’all go ahead and have at it, OK?

The branding incident that involved one of her daughters has left permanent scarring on the girl’s thigh and buttocks. Then the incubator had the nerve to tell the authorities that the children made it all up. Were the scars on the thighs and buttocks imaginary too, I wonder? Stupid cow. The 12 and 14-year olds did all of the shopping and cooking while mum laid about on the sofa. Stuffing her fat cow face, no doubt.

When the authorities arrived to arrest her, there was also the obligatory nastiness in the house. One of the officers stated that, “The house was untidy and cluttered. It smelt and there were no, or very few, toys around.” There was also no food in the house and no sheets on the children’s beds. Why is THAT not surprising?

The abusive individual will be sentenced on December 7.

Thanks to Monique for the tip.

I’m so sorry the kids suffered years of abuse. And, I wish someone would have uncovered evidence 10 years ago when they were first investigated. That’s a lot of abuse over a long period. I’m surprised there were only 18 charges.

I’m afraid it would have made no difference even if there had been evidence…and remember Child Services don’t need evidence in the same way that the police do. They can remove a child if there is cause to suspect a problem, but they don’t.
In all the high profile child abuse (leading to death) cases in the UK in the past ten years (Yes, you heard right) Child Services have been actively involved.
In the case of a little girl who was starved to death in a cupboard whilst her mother got on with her life on the other side of the door (again, yes, you heard right)the Child Support Officer was told the child had gone to stay with her Aunt and did not check with the Aunt, ask for an address or ask to come in and satisfy herself that the child was not there.
If she had she might have heard the child crying.
    But she didn’t.
    I have NO idea why.
I hope she can sleep at night, because at least then the child can haunt her dreams!

As far as any child protective agency, it really seems to vary from city to city, state to state, and country to country, all inclusively.. judge to judge too, there must be a standardized way of handling this. Not so hard, just a realistic, objective, well-defined ways. Why is it that large corporations can write out job descriptions, sets of boudaries, etc., but our various levels of govenment cannot? I’m thinking it’s time to challenge those issues, via your voting power or petitioning, or just plain not being willing to accept the status quo.
MADD is a good example, I am not sure of what they have actually acomplished, but what could us PBB and PBB like concerned people who are fed up do? Maybe we should rally people like us in our communities to start protesting, and just not take NO for an answer when it comes to letting the smallest of our society get kicked around…., and so viciously.

  • Kathy Thomas Says:

Again, I see subjecive viewpoints. I don’t see “untidy and cluttered” as a problems, I DO however see “no food” and the implements used on the children a huge problem. People get too appearance oriented, when we need to stick to the facts, the kids we physically harmed, and they had no food. THOSE are the things to concentrate on. This isn’t a “who can be the best June Cleaver” contest. They weren’t talking about pure squalor, from what the article says.

  • Kathy Says:

Man, I have 4 kids running around like wild animals right now. I sure hope untidy and cluttered aren’t considered abuse!!! The toilet seat is off the toilet soaking because three boys can’t hit the inside of the bowl if their lives depended on it. The sink is full of dishes that I need to put in the dishwasher which I need to unload and put away but can’t because a 3 y/o girl is climbing me like a jungle gym. The beds are unmade because I do plan to change out the sheets, but the siblings are bickering which prevents me from focusing on any task for more than 15 seconds before I have to go scold someone.

I think they should take the meat mallet, garlic crusher, and screwdriver; and go beat every dentist in the UK with them, because they are obviously not doing their job!

  • Kathy Thomas Says:

Why Travi, are you suggesting that the British don’t have beauiful teeth?………. ;-)
