Breeder says 16 years too long for killing daughter

Maine man says 16 years for baby’s death too long:

From the ‘You have got to be kidding me department’ comes this story from Rockland, Maine comes a story of man who thinks his sentence is too long.

Robert Harford Jr. was convicted of manslaughter in the death of his 2-month-old daughter. He was sentenced to 16 years. Harford claims that is too long of a sentence since similar crimes usually only carry a 5-8 year sentence.

Fist of all boo freakin’ hoo. You gave your daughter a death sentence.

Secondly as far as I’m concerned you should be charged with murder since you threw your daughter to the ground in a ‘fit of frustration’. You should be on your knees thanking God that you didn’t get a life sentence.

Plus he told the age old tale of ‘accidentally dropping’ the baby at first.

In my opinion he should be in jail for as long as his daughter is dead.

Thanks to Jake’s Daddy for the tip.

16 years IS too long for him to sit in jail, watching TV, getting an education, eating hot meals, playing on the computer, making friends, working out, etc…. All of the things his child will never do. I think the 2 seconds it would take to pull a trigger and the bullet to penetrate his brain is all he should get. Fuck the 16 years on taxpayer’s dime.

I have to agree with the man, 16 years is a crazy sentence for killing an infant. But what I consider a fair sentence for him is considered cruel and unusual punishment, so he should shut up.

I have a way to make this more “fair” to him, though I’m sure its a legal impossibility.

We have the courts review ALL people currently in jail for killing their kids, maybe some of the other sentences are just too lenient.

I just looked up a comparison of murder vs manslaughter. I’ve always had a hard time trying to understand why murder charges are often pleaded down to the lesser (yet same result – someone is dead) offense of manslaughter. The only difference is the “intent.” Murder is consider to be more premeditated or cruel. Manslaughter is a “heat of passion” response. “This mental state must have been caused by legally sufficient provocation that would cause a reasonable person of ordinary temperament to lose self-control. To convict a person of manslaughter, it must be proved that the person who committed the homicide had adequate provocation (this cannot involve words alone), acted in the heat of passion, and lacked the opportunity to cool that passion. There must also be a connection between the incident of provocation, the heat of passion, and the act that caused the homicide.” I completely disagree with the manslaughter conviction. ALL parents have the ability to cool that passion. You put the child in a crib or secure her safely in her car seat and you walk away for a few minutes to gather yourself. This man CHOSE not to “cool that passion” and he MURDERED a 9 week old baby. IMO, 16 yrs is not nearly enough.

I agree 100% and that he has the nerve to complain about it is just down right sickening!

If he lets his fellow inmates know what he’s in for he won’t have to worry! His stay will be significantly shorter!

If I killed my baby, I’d be begging for a bullet to the head.

Then again, I care about my kid.
