Cyrus Belt
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before but one of the most common questions I get is “How do you do this every day?” The truth is I’ve become almost numb to it since I’ve been writing about stuff like this for almost 10 years now.
However every once in a while a story comes along that’s so horrific that I can’t even bring myself to post the details.
The story of 23-month-old Cyrus Belt would be one of those stories.
He was killed two years ago in Hawaii by a meth smoking tweaker in a very bizarre and gruesome way. As the article states it seems that everyone around him smoked meth which eventually led to his death.

Trench, I wonder if you really are numb or just have seen so much there are no words left in you. This one can’t even call for sarcasm, it’s so shameful and dumbfounding. Still, we thank you for what you do and will do, because WE need to know so if we see people like these, in same behaviors, etc., we can hopefully do something different for the next child. Wow. So I wonder if he was dead before he was tossed over the overpass. What the f*ck?? That story gives detail that isn’t important and leaves out important shit. I understand the father is on trial for the murder, but are the mother and her boyfriend? The article also makes it sound like some sort of love triangle. I’m so confused……
RIP Cyrus. You are free from those horrible monsters.

Since a witness said his little hand was still warm, if he was dead when thrown off the overpass, it hadn’t been for very long. And the asshole probably killed him because he got yelled at for not watching the little guy earlier in the day when the baby was found in the middle of the road.

And then his attorney saying his client isn’t guilty of murder because the baby was dead before he was flung off the overpass, when less than half an hour before he was alive.
And that poor driver of the truck is gonna need therapy, I cannot imagine the horror he must have felt. What a cute little angel he was.

I read stuff like this and I realize that we are not that far removed from what we call 3rd world countries where men rape little girls to be rid of aids or kids are made to do dangerous jobs because their more expendable than adults. Yet, we still call ourselves civilized. Seriously… how civilized can we be if we can so easily kill children? I’m sickened by this story.

The saddest part is that when the boy was in the middle of the road, that was his chance to get his life saved….but the “parent” I think, as April, said took it out on the kid. With these “parents” it’s always someone else’s fault.
Then the poor little child gets the brunt of it..

I got that the guy who took the child from the police officer was the “mother’s” boyfriend, and the guy who killed the child was a friend of theirs who lived upstairs(?) with his father, and that the “mother” and her bf helped them to get the apartment. The whole friggin thing is very confusing.
As for the idiotic excuse that the poor boy was already dead, bullshit. And what difference would that make, anyway? How did he die? He was very alive not an hour before. Assholes (the lawyer, too.)
This story is giving me chills and making me nauseous… bad combination.

I read the link up there and i am sick to my stomach about this. I can not imagine what the people who witnessed this must have gone thru seeing this and then knowing it was deliberate and a baby. OMG i am jsut sick I can not say enough how much it has sickened me. That fat f-cking loser and all the losers that surrounded this poor baby and did not take care of him need to be tossed off some bridge somewhere… ALIVE.

I live in Hawaii. I am sickened by this also. However, it was not the boyfriend who did this. It was a neighbor. A neighbor who was very mentally disturbed. The story that is going about is the boy’s grandfather was watching him, and he got out of the house while the grandfather was asleep. Someone returned him to the apartment. Then a little while after, some people saw Matthew Higa walking down the street carrying the baby. Then they saw him throw poor baby off the overpass. They’re not sure if he was alive or not, as he did not seem to be moving.
Yes, the mother is a meth addict… or at least she was at the time. Not sure if she’s recovering or not, but she was def. using then as she has admitted it.

I am so sick to think about this little boy being alive when this happened. It may sound crazy but atleast had he been gone before he would not have experience the fear he had to have experienced when this went down. April I am with you lets kick his f-cking a– (you are right i feel liberated saying that) There are some cruel ways to hurt or murder children but this one has to be one of if not the worst way to do it. This guy is a waste of space on this earth let’s take care of that problem.

Sorry – He first admitted that Cyrus was alive but he is now claiming that he was already dead. Either way, Higa needs to be taken out and shot in the stomach and left alone to die. MAybe then he will understand what poor little Cyrus felt before he died.

The “justice”system fails our children AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. When will we put value on our children and PUNISH these offenders?!?!?! You get a harsher punishment for stealing a car than hurting a child, there is something horribly wrong here. If these people had a history with child protective services, why was he given back to these scumbags?! Am I reading the article right here, the little boy was found by officers earlier by the side of the road after he “wandered off”. Annnnnnnnnnnd noone felt the need to follow up later that day ….

The sad thing is, they had a visit scheduled, but for after the little guy died, and being found in the road apparently occurred less than a half hour before being thrown off the over pass.
