Mother goes out drinking leaves babies alone

Ladies and Gentlemen meet, Michelle Lee Polan (21). She looks pissed off in her picture doesn’t she? Well, I guess she would after being caught leaving her 9-month-old twins alone to go on a drinking binge at a friend’s house.

Michelle, it appears, decided on Saturday, Sept. 11^th that she wanted to head over to friend’s house and get her drink on. Not a big deal, we all need a break and to blow off some steam, but generally we seek out a sitter for our babies in order to do so, not Michelle. Well, I guess I should say she didn’t find a sitter for all of her children.

Her 3-year-old son was upstairs with an adult relative, while her 9-month-old twins were left alone in their downstairs apartment, in soiled diapers and a messy playpen. Presumably the upstairs relative is Michelle’s sister, as she is also the one who found the babies alone Saturday morning, but did not notify police until around 5 pm.

According to the police reports Michelle came in the backdoor of her apartment approximately an hour after the police arrived. At first she denied drinking then said she had three drinks and her breathalyzer test recorded her B.A.C. at 0.148. Police believe she left the babies alone for eight or nine hours. Holy Shit!

The children are in the custody of Michelle’s mother.

Michelle was booked on two counts of felony child abuse.

What confuses me the most in this one, is if the sister (or relative) upstairs was watching her son and she just had to go out for a day of drinking, why not just take the babies upstairs. All in all a happy ending, no dead babies.

Doesn’t make sense to me either. If this is her sister, presumably she knows there were two other kids in the family. If your sister says to you, hey sis, do ya mind looking after Junior while I go out for a couple hours, and you don’t mind, you say sure – but wouldn’t the next thing out of your mouth be something like “Where’s the babies?”
And like Scretch I find it hard to believe neither of those dirty, hungry babies cried out once all night.

Yep Deena she does look pissed. Thx for the article. Well good for her that she got to have her hangover in the jail while realizing what she’d done. I hope she got a cell with a backed up toilet, fitting for making her babies lie in dirty diapers. Shame on her.
Something doesn’t add up. In the one article it says the sister claims she didn’t know the babies were in the apt. but claims she found them in the morning But if police found them in dirty diapers in the playpen in the late afternoon that means the sister knowing those babies were alone, neglected them as well by not taking care of them and not calling police earlier. She should therefore be in the cell with her sister IMO. And how do you not hear babies crying all night?? Hungry babies cry very loudly. Hell I can hear someone sneeze through the walls here. A crying baby I could probably hear 2 apts. away. hm.
