Family member of Breeder charged with murder of daughter has some good advice

Christopher Storbakken

Christopher Storbakken

I was almost going to pass on this story because I can’t stomach a lot of the stories sent to me however in this tragedy comes wisdom.

27-year-old Christopher Storbakken of Indianapolis has been charged with murder in the death of his one-year-old daughter Fowler Harper. Storbakken at first claimed he dropped her while removing her from the crib but the autopsy showed that Fowler died from blunt force trauma and had injuries to her stomach, leg, arm and hand. Police say that Storbakken eventually admitted to striking his daughter because she wouldn’t stop crying. Unfortunately these types of death have become all too familiar to us.

However a family member has some great advice, which may be considered common sense to some but not by all, about what the constant crying may mean…

“I was one of them,” Rehme said. “I had a child that it took months for me to realize she was allergic to dairy, so I had to deal with that. The thing is, take a break; ask for help.”

The crying is not your fault and there is no weakness in asking someone for help.

Thanks to AJ for the tip.

Body of boy who’d been dead for days found in home
Pennsylvania mom: I didn’t know son had died until the smell set in
Homicide charges for Pennsylvania parents of son found decomposing in home
Court records detail changing stories provided by Jarrod Tutko Jr.’s mother

Oh, God… That’s a prayer, a plea, and the sound my heart makes when I think of this poor child, who died alone, hungry, and probably terrified. Sorry, friends, but I am not going to post any pictures of the perpetrators in this sad tale, because I cannot stand to look at their faces myself. There are plenty of pics in the linked stories, and if that’s not enough for you, just Google Tutko, and you will be amply rewarded with a plethora of pictures of the two animals who mercilessly killed one child, and almost killed another. I usually try to lighten up these stories in order to make them easier to read, but I can’t do that this time. My heart is too broken. Forgive me, but I just can’t think of any glib remarks that would make this situation easier to bear.

I started to write this a few weeks ago, when the story first hit the news, but decided to hold off because (child abuse) charges had not been made yet, and I was desperately hoping that there was a reasonable explanation for the horrors brought forth in the news concerning this case. I knew it was unlikely, but still, I hoped. Alas, I was sadly disappointed.

Little Jarrod Tutko, Jr. was found in his “bedroom”(actually, some articles say he was found in a bathroom), dead, several days after he died. His mother claimed that she did not realize he was dead until the smell of decomposition set in. Apparently, there were six children living in the home, at least two of whom were disabled, and all of whom were living in filth and misery. I am going to attempt to combine the linked articles into some sort of cohesive timeline, but please forgive me if I fail – I am still crying about the newest details that have emerged.

Jarrod’s body was found on the bathroom floor on August 1, 2014. The authorities have said that he was dead for several days before his body was recovered. The mother claimed (at the time) not to have seen her son in “years”. More on that later. The sperm donor, Jarrod Tutko, Sr., was supposedly the “sole caretaker” of his 9-year-old son, and the egg donor, Kimberly Tutko, was responsible for another child of theirs, a 10-year-old girl. She claimed that all of her time was spent caring for the girl, and she never saw her son, because she didn’t want to risk exposing the other children to any germs Jarrod Jr might have had, or some such BS. The stories vary, depending on which article you read. The risk of contamination was a valid concern, it seems, because little Jarrod’s room was covered in feces, swarming with flies, and had only a feces covered blanket and stuffed animal, and a TV in it. The TV was tuned to the Disney channel. I think I need to puke again. WHO, among the sane and sensible, thinks it is OK to treat a child this way?

Jarrod Jr. had a genetic condition called Fragile X Syndrome. This is a condition that can cause behavioral issues in children, and has autistic-like symptoms. It is also frequently accompanied by some degree of mental retardation. This child likely spent his short life confused and lonely, and wondering why he was treated like an animal. At this point, however, I find myself hoping that his mental impairment was so bad that he didn’t understand the abuse – and couldn’t suffer from the emotional trauma. I know, I’m deluding myself.

When Jarrod Jr. was found, he weighed only seventeen pounds. Let that sink in for a minute…a nine-year-old who weighs only seventeen pounds. Just for comparison, the average weight for a newborn is six pounds. A baby will typically triple its birth weight in the first year. That would be 18 pounds. This precious 9-year-old boy died weighing less than the average 1-year-old. In a room covered in human waste. With no one who would love him, or take care of him. I despise those people. I really do.

In addition to Jarrod Jr., there was a 10 year old girl who was “near death” when the authorities came in for the investigation. All five of the remaining children have been removed from the birth organisms, and both of the abusers are currently residents of the Grey bar motel. I hope they rot there.

As I mentioned earlier, when the story first broke, the FBO claimed not to have seen her son in years, and claimed not to know how deplorable his living conditions were. First, how can any mother live in the same house with a child and simply NOT see him for years? I couldn’t do it. Even when my children are visiting relatives during the summer, I make sure I see them at least once a week. When they go to camp, I make it a point to go and have a meal with them a couple of times a week. I just can’t stand to NOT see them. And this slag lived in the same house with her boy and NEVER saw him? LIAR, LIAR! (I’d like to set her hair on fire!) Well, it turns out, that was a lie she concocted to try to keep herself out of trouble. According to the latest reports, she was upstairs and visiting with her son just a few short weeks before his death. She said he was crying on the bathroom floor “because he didn’t like the sound of running water.” There goes my wish that he was unaware of his surroundings. He was crying on the bathroom floor. My soul weeps for this child.

I know this story is running long, and I apologize, but I simply couldn’t think what to include, and what to omit. There is so much wrong with this situation. The local child protective services were aware of this family, yet the children were still neglected, one to the point of death, and another almost dead. The other four children were apparently living on the lower floor of the home, and in somewhat better circumstances, although as I understand it the entire house was in need of some serious cleaning. I could not find the ages of the other four children specifically mentioned, but one article did say they ranged from 3 to 14 years old. I’d like to know HOW, if the two parents each had a full time job taking care of severely disabled kids, HOW in the name of Satan’s undershorts did they FIND TIME TO MAKE MORE BABIES? They should have spent that time feeding the kids they already had.

The Slunt is has been charged with criminal homicide and endangering the welfare of children, and the walking penis is charged with the same thing, plus concealing the death of a child and abuse of a corpse. They are both being held without bail. At least the judge in this case is doing something right. I hope they are sentenced to the rest of their natural lives in a septic tank located in a high traffic area, with no food. I’m not sure if I want them to starve to death first or die of the inevitable fumes from the feces flushed into their prison. I can’t write any more right now – perhaps I’ll come back later to update the story. Maybe not.

Sorry, Trench. I know this one sucks, but I just couldn’t get my head straight. If you want to take it down, or fix it, I’ll understand completely.

What are diapers for, anyway?

Police: Texas solider beat daughter to death

Fort Bliss Soldier Dartarious Graham Allegedly Uses Belt To Kill 2-Year-Old Daughter

Notorious and Lizardmeth...oops....Dartorious and Elizabeth (honest mistake) - two of the three responsible for Peyton's death.

The two seemingly normal looking people above are Dartarious Graham, 20, and his wife, Elizabeth Graham (no age given), of El Paso Texas. They, along with a cousin of the father, have been arrested and are being held in connection with the death of two-year-old Peyton Graham. Peyton is the biological child of both Dartorious and Elizabeth. Since I don’t think either of these two individuals deserve to be called by name any longer, I will simply refer to them as Notorious and Loose-screw. Yes, I came up with those myself. Not very original, perhaps, but at least they’re accurate.

In the first paragraph, I mentioned that these two are being held in connection with the death of little Peyton. That was not quite accurate. Notorious has been charged with her MURDER, and Loose-screw and Robert Franklin (the cousin) are both being charged with “injury to a child by omission”. Folks, that’s just a fancy term for not doing a blessed thing to save a child who is being killed right in front of your eyes. They stood by and did nothing as Notorious beat little Peyton to death with a belt. Well, to be completely fair, the bio-slag wasn’t actually there at the time of the fatal beating, but according to reports, she had witnessed multiple previous beatings and did nothing to stop them. How can a mother stand by and watch anyone beat her child that way? The cousin actually witnessed the beginning of the final beating, and turned and walked away. My head spins. All three of the pseudo-adults in this debacle are being held at the El Paso County Jail. Notorious has a $250,000.00 bond, but no bond amount was listed for either the sorry slag or the callous cousin.

Why, you may ask, did this precious child deserve such a beating? She didn’t. NO child ever deserves to be treated this way. But Notorious thought she did, and why? Because she “soiled her diaper”. What?!?!?! She was TWO freakin’ years old! What in the blue depths of Hades did he expect? If she was wearing a diaper, that tells me that he KNEW she was not potty-trained, and therefore he knew that she might occasionally have an accident. However, instead of cleaning up his daughter, getting her a clean diaper and taking her to the bathroom to see if she needed to finish up (as any reasonable parent would do), he decided that a beating was in order. People like this make my flesh crawl. I hope he has explosive diarrhea every day for the rest of his life, and his inmates beat him every time he stinks up the cell.

As indicated in my previous remarks, this was not little Peyton’s first beating. Authorities have said that older wounds on the girl’s body were indicative of prior assaults by the sperm-donor. Good Lord. Older wounds? At two years old? When did the abuse start, I wonder? If this case is anything like previous cases, it likely started before she was a year old. Sick arse-tards. You don’t beat a baby, people. Ever. They are fragile, and often don’t realize that they have done anything wrong. Especially when that ‘wrong thing’ is a biological necessity. All people have to use the bathroom, and babies sometimes can’t control their bowels at that age.

Good grief, people, if I had beaten my children like this every time they had an accident while potty training, I wouldn’t have any children left alive! ALL children occasionally have accidents. And some kids have “deliberate accidents” (they are having so much fun playing they don’t want to interrupt playtime to go to the bathroom). One of mine did that one day in the back yard. She had been completely potty trained for several weeks, and came in with saggy pants and an ungodly stench about her. I knew what she had done, but I asked her anyway, and she politely explained to me that she “was having too much fun and didn’t want to come inside.” So I beat her bloody, and threw her on the floor. No, NOT really. What I did was send her to the bathroom with instructions to remove her soiled clothing and get into the bathtub. I told her if she was old enough to know better, and stubborn enough to poop in her pants anyway, she could clean up her own mess. I waited about five minutes and went to see if she was doing as she was told. She had taken off her clothes and dropped them on the floor, and was standing in the bathtub with crap from her waist to her ankles. And in the bottom of the tub. Guess what? I STILL didn’t beat her. I helped her wipe away the major portion of the mess with TP and flushed it. Then I turned on the shower and finished bathing her. Then I made her watch as I rinsed out her panties and shorts in the toilet, telling her next time, I would make her do it. She never did it again. No beating required. Now, this little ‘lesson’ did necessitate a thorough cleaning of the bathtub and bathroom floor afterwards (by me), but hey, what are Scrubbing Bubbles for, anyway? Oh, and I didn’t have a dead kid when I was done ‘teaching’ her, either. Everybody wins!

Why do some parents think that beating a baby with a belt will teach it ANYTHING? The only thing abuse like that teaches children….is fear. The floor is now open for comments…..

Apparently, killing five children is not enough to warrant the title of “Monster”

Lawyer: Accused child killer being “portrayed like a monster”
Father who ‘killed his five children then bleached their bodies to hide stench

Murdering Monster

Timothy Ray Jones Jr., 32, of South Carolina, is being wrongfully portrayed as a ‘monster’ in the press, according to his attorney. According to this same attorney, all he really needs is a mental health evaluation. Pardon me while I puke.

This waste of oxygen killed his five children. The names and ages of these precious angels are: Merah, 8; Elias, 7; Nahtahn, 6; Gabriel, 2, and Elaine Marie, 1. While the article is unspecific about the exact cause of death, it did report that the children were killed “by violent means”. Then, as if that wasn’t bad enough, this worthless individual drove around with the dead bodies of his children, wrapped in trash bags, for several days. Through several states. And then dumped their tiny bodies on a rural hilltop in Alabama. It was reported that, at one point, Jones stopped at a donut shop for a coffee and six donuts. Did he think buying them donuts would bring the kids back to life? Sorry, monster daddy, it doesn’t work that way.

This monster killed his children, and he is upset that he is being portrayed as a monster in the press? Really? That came as a shock to him? How in the Sam Hades did he think he would be portrayed after killing five innocent children? As a saint? As a good father? How about as a murderous bastard? Does that sound better than ‘monster’?

The hired liar, oops, I meant to say his attorney, has said that he has been treated for mental health problems in the past, which tells me that they are likely planning an insanity defense. This man is not insane – he is vindictive. Plain mean. The article also mentions that he was upset because his wife slept with a neighbor. If I were the betting sort, I’d wager a significant amount on the likelihood that this depraved individual killed the kids to get back at Mommy. While I’m not condoning her actions, why did this worthless POS think that the children should pay for their mother’s infidelities? Perhaps the mother was beginning to recognize the ‘crazy’ signs, and wanted to be with a SANE individual for a change.

Think that’s bad? Wait! There’s more! This outstanding specimen of virility has a criminal record dating back to 2001 – when he was 19 years old. He was arrested for cocaine possession, auto theft, burglary and passing forged checks. What a catch, ladies! Isn’t this the kind of guy you want to father your children? Yeah, me neither. But apparently he found a woman who was willing to overlook his youthful indiscretions and give him a chance. Five chances. All of whom he later killed.

When Jones was apprehended, he was driving his SUV that, according to the arresting officer, smelled of death. The SUV contained blood, childrens’ clothes, maggots and BLEACH, with which he was apparently attempting to mask the odors of decomposition. Too bad he didn’t drink some of the bleach instead. The officers said he was also “high as a kite” on Spice, a synthetic form of marijuana.

Jones’ father, Timothy Jones, Sr., gave a statement to the press in which he referred to his son as a “very loving father, brother and son.” I don’t know about the ‘brother and son’ part, but I call BS on the ‘loving father’ description. Sorry, Sr., a loving father does not murder his children. Pick a different descriptor for your monster….ummmm…son, please.

In addition to the father’s statements, a couple of neighbors were also interviewed by the press. The Hyders, who lived next door when Jones and his wife were still married, indicated that they thought Jones was strange. His children were often dirty and disheveled, and in later months, very rarely seen outside at all. Apparently Jones had also been vaguely threatening on several occasions, and had once threatened to kill a dog owned by the Hyders. Mrs. Hyder said Jones was “a nut”. No! Ya think?

The mother of the children is said to be distraught over the deaths of her children, and rightfully so. I think she should be given a blowtorch, a claw hammer, and a taser – and fifteen minutes alone with Timothy in a police interrogation room. Oh, and full immunity for anything that happens during that fifteen minute span. We might not have to take this case to court after all.

What kind of sick do you have to be to think that killing your children is a solution to ANYTHING?!? I sincerely hope this guy gets the DP, and that it is mishandled like a couple of other recent cases, so that he suffers during his execution. I hope he suffers horribly.

He is currently awaiting transport to SC from Mississippi, where he will be formally charged. He is also on suicide watch. Great! Can I watch? Oh, wait, I was thinking of something else. If I were his guard, I would hand him a straight razor to shave with, and extra sheets to cover up with at night. Already torn into strips, to make the creation of a noose even easier for him. Plus an instruction sheet, outlining fifty ways to kill yourself in a jail cell. But that’s just me. I try to be helpful that way.
Merah, Elias, Nahtahn, Gabriel and Elaine. Precious babies, may you all sing and dance with the angels.

PS – Jerk-off Jones’ attorney has also said that Jones is ‘scared’ and wants someone to ‘guide him through the process.’ He should have considered how frightened his kids likely were as he was killing them. I bet they were freakin’ terrified. He doesn’t deserve to have someone to “guide him”, IMHO. Unless it’s to the electric chair – in that case, I volunteer to be his guide. Shoot, I’ll even flip the switch. No charge. And I’ll pay for the after-party as well.

Car Surfing Should NOT be a Parent-Sponsored Activity

Police: Drunk mom drove with 6 kids on top of her car

Texas mom busted after driving home drunk with six kids on car’s roof, trunk: cops
Texas girl, 12, dies from head injuries after woman made her ride on car roof because of wet swimsuit

Why is she SMILING? She just killed a child!

Let me introduce you to Kisha Young, 39, of Crowley, Texas. She is the smiley-faced slag in the above picture. She is also an idiot, and (allegedly) a murderer. I have to add that “allegedly” until she is found guilty in a court of law, even though the facts of the case speak for themselves.

So….allegedly, Kisha and another mother decided this past June 17 to allow their six children to spend a day at the local community pool. During this time, Kisha and the other mother (whose name, for some strange reason, is not being mentioned in the articles) decided that while the kids were away, the moms should play. So, they got their drink on.

Fast forward a few hours now, and the kids are ready to come home, so the ‘moms’ drive to the pool to retrieve them. Apparently, Kisha and cohort had had a little TOO much to drink (or a LOT too much, but who’s counting, right?), and thought it would be a great idea to protect the upholstery in the vehicle from damp bodies….by having the kids ride ON TOP OF THE VEHICLE. Sounds great in theory, but not so good in practice, unfortunately.

As Kisha was rounding a corner on the trip home, not one, not two, but FOUR of the six children were flung from the roof of the Malibu. All of the children were taken to the hospital, where one later died. Octavia Watkins, daughter of the as-yet-unnamed passenger parent, succumbed to head injuries caused in the fall from the vehicle. According to multiple articles, all children have been removed from their respective homes, and Kisha has been charged with intoxication assault, a third degree felony. She posted a $110,000.00 bond and has been released from jail to await trial.

Now that the facts of the case have been presented, I have a few other issues to cover. Like why in blue Hades did these idiot women think it was a good idea to have their kids ride on top of a moving vehicle? Car surfing is illegal regardless of the ages of the participants, but you would think that a parent would be aware of the dangers and would not only refrain from encouraging such behavior, but would absolutely FORBID it. I know I certainly would. When I found out my adult daughter had tried this dangerous activity sometime during her college years (i.e. she was an adult) I STILL called her up and blessed her out. Yet these two stellar examples of intellect thought it would be OK to have SIX children ride on top of a Malibu. My head absolutely SPINS at the thought. And again, WHY was it a good idea? Because the kiddies’ swimsuits might damage the upholstery in the car. WHAT!?!? In what corner of the known universe is it considered acceptable to place the condition of your car above the well-being of your children?!?

Second issue: If this act had been condoned and carried out by just one adult, I might more easily have been able to pass it off as a random act of stupidity – but there were TWO consenting (and colluding) adults in this equation. TWO!!! This is no longer a random act of stupidity, folks. Someone needs to seriously consider testing the local water supply for high levels of lead or other brain destroying substances. Two people from the same area have the same short circuit between their brain and common sense, at the same time, and under the same circumstances – something’s wrong. Makes me wonder if alcohol was their only ‘happy helper’ that day.

Third issue: Kisha has been released on only a $110,000.00 bond? Really? And the charges are intoxication assault? Where are the murder charges? Where are the child endangerment charges (for the other children)? Where are the assault charges for the other three kids who fell off of the moving vehicle? Where are the attempted murder charges for those kids? You think I’m being too harsh? Not by a long shot, buddy. Driving your children around (or anyone else, for that matter) while intoxicated is attempted murder, IMHO. Putting them on the roof while you do it is even worse. This woman should have a list of charges against her as long as my arm. Or my leg. Or my front yard. I certainly hope the charges are amended (and increased).

Fourth issue: Why is the second mother (Octavia’s mother) not being named or charged in this incident? At the very least, she should be facing criminal facilitation or aiding and abetting. She made (or went along with) a stupid decision, and her child is dead. She needs to answer for that. But again, that’s just my opinion. Not worth much in the grand scheme of things, but there it is.

Oh, and one final WTF from me….WTF is that smut-eating smile on her face for? She just killed a child, and injured three others, and she is SMILING?!?!? Someone needs to smack that smile off her face. With a wiffle-ball bat. Or a brick bat. Whatever you prefer.

Bad Boyfriend beats baby with belt over messy diaper change

Austin Hamilton

Austin Hamilton

24-year-old Austin Hamilton of Tampa, Florida was recently arrested for the beating death of his girlfriend’s one-year-old son, Sincere Williams. A coroner’s report said that Sincere died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen. Hamilton allegedly confessed to police that he struck Sincere ten times with a belt and dropped him on his head after Sincere urinated on him during a diaper change.

I was spared diaper changes since my (step)kids were out of diapers when I got married. However my dad told me that I was quite the surprise geyser when I was in diapers. Considering my dad was not the most calm man I ever knew how much rage did Hamilton have to possess in order to do that to one-year-old child? He would have had to have either taken off his belt or gone to get a belt before striking the child which for most people would have been enough time to give them pause about what they were about to do. Also Hamilton had a child from a previous relationship so I doubt this was a new experience for him.

Sincere’s mother was working at the time of the beating. The couple had known each other for years and she thought Hamilton would be fine with the children since he had children of his own. However Hamilton in the past has been charged with battery, domestic violence and had been investigated by CPS. All charges were dropped but you have to think that sometimes where there’s smoke there’s a raging inferno of a forest fire sometimes.

There’s nothing wrong with screening the background of your significant other. It may save your children’s lives and yours. One possible service is instantcheckmate.com which has an A- rating by the Better Business Bureau although your results may vary. You may also want to contact your local police or courts for records availability.

Bad boyfriend beats baby buries body under bridge

Joshua Markus Beard

Joshua Markus Beard

I’ve been trying to keep the language on the site cleaner than in the past but damn that’s one Frankenstein looking motherfucker. That’s 20-year-old Joshua Markus Beard of Arlington, Texas. He’s been charged in the brutal beating death of his girlfriend’s 19-month-old daughter, Tylea Moore. Beard not only allegedly struck the child and threw her on the bed so hard that she bounced out to the floor but he also stomped on her stomach so hard that the baby was vomiting green fluid. Eventually Tylea succumbed to her injuries at the hands of Markus. Rather than calling police Marks and the girl’s mother, 17-year-old Alexis Botello, allegedly buried Tylea under a bridge. They were caught not only after Beard’s aunt reported the child missing but also after the pair were identified on Wal-Mart security cam footage of them buying shovels and gloves.

I know it’s everyone’s first instinct to attack the mother in a case like this but I ask that you sheath your pitchforks for now. She has been arrested and has been charged with tampering with evidence. What we don’t know is if this was a domestic abuse issue or not. I mean if he was willing to violently kill her child like that what would he be willing to do to her. For all we know there could have been domestic violence that had never been reported. We all know that not every incident of domestic violence gets reported to police unfortunately.

Again though, I feel the need to address future or possible abusers like this. The best way to make sure that police catch you and send you to jail is to kill a child. You will not get away with it. You are not smarter than the police. They will use every method at their disposal to catch you and put you away for a long time. And God forbid you do something like that in a state like Texas where they execute more killers than most countries. Beard has been charged with capital murder so it’s a real possibility for him. So think about that before you raise your hand like that to a child you cowards.

If you’re a victim of domestic violence you can go to The National Domestic Violence Hotline website or call them at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

Utah Breeder killed 6 newborns because of meth

Megan Huntsman

Megan Huntsman

You may remember the story from back in April about Megan Huntsman from Pleasant Grove, Utah. She was arrested for allegedly murdering seven newborns found in her house. Recently more details have been made public about the crimes.

According to investigators Huntsman killed her babies because she was a meth addict who simply did not want to care for any children. Forensic investigators have also said that one of the babies was stillborn. Not murdering six babies is much better than killing seven.

DNA testing also showed that all seven of the babies were fathered by Huntsman’s estranged husband who is said to have first discovered the bodies. He did time for meth spending several years in jail. Police are unsure how he could have not been aware of his wife’s many pregnancies. Since I’ve never been hooked on meth I can’t speak towards its cognitive hazards but you would think that even a tweaker would notice seven pregnancies that were carried to term not to mention seven home births. Yet police say that he is not implicated in the killings.

As I said in my previous post about Huntsman, abortion is readily available in Utah. While I don’t agree with the practice It would have been more responsible of her than murdering her newborns.

If you or someone you know has a meth addiction you may want to think about contacting the national substance abuse referral line at 1-800-662-HELP (4357) or visit their website.

‘A Monster Took Him’

‘A Monster Took Him,’ Family Speaks Out About Suspect Accused Of Beating Infant To Death:

Man jailed after infant’s death:

Said monster, Steven Shaw

Said monster, Steven Shaw

41-year-old Steven Shaw of Coldwater, Michigan, is only 5 feet (1.5m) tall. His small stature hasn’t stopped him from being the worst kind of monster. In the past Shaw was accused of the rape of a 13-year-old girl and choking his own 7-year-old daughter. He escaped justice both times. He’s also been accused of abusing his ex-wife but charges were dropped. Unfortunately, growing up in an abusive household I know how that scenario plays out. Doesn’t mean the abuser isn’t guilty. This time Shaw is accused of killing his girlfriend’s 7-month-old son, Carson Burm.

Shaw allegedly beat Carson to death while the mother was at work. Shaw was also said to have been watching over the mother’s 2-year-old daughter as well. While the mother was at work Shaw is said to have shaken the baby and struck his head against a hard object. The force was enough to snap the baby’s spine.

Of course Shaw tried the usual BS when abusers try to cover their crime…

Medics found the baby on the floor, turning blue and unresponsive. Shaw told the responder he had laid the baby in its crib but moved it to the doorway when it stopped breathing.

Of course the hospital and coroner found out otherwise. Do they think that if they’re story is convincing enough that no one will check? Police also found a hole punched in the wall so take that for what you will.

CPS was said to have visited the home 3 times but did not take Carson away. My friend, who we’ll call CW, works for a state child protection agency. I asked CW why wouldn’t CPS interfere if they’ve been their 3 times. CW told me that a judge would more than likely not agree to have a child removed from a home unless there were visible marks and bruises. At the time Carson was only treated for what one doctor called an ear-infection even though they noted that there was blood in Carson’s ear.

Shaw seems like one of those guys who tries to make up for his stature by trying to be a tough guy, but like most tough guys it seems he only takes his violent rage out on victims smaller than himself. I wonder how that’s going to work out for him in jail.

In the meantime Carson’s father has set up a memorial fund on GoFundMe which can be found here. They are in need of money to help pay for Carson’s funeral. Please give if you can.

If you live in the Coldwater area there will also be a fundraiser for Carson.

Family said a fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 7 at the Butler Motor Speedway, located at 1031 Clarendon Rd. 49082. The race will start at 7 p.m.

Thanks to MM for the tip.

Journey Ann was not in the system

Boyd and Payne

Boyd and Payne

Couple charged in beating death of 1-year-old Bartow County girl:

This is an older story but I think it still deserves attention.

I’m not usually a fan of nontraditional names but Journey Ann is a beautiful name for a beautiful baby. Unfortunately 1-year-old Journey Ann Cowart’s own journey in this life was cut short. Journey Ann’s mother, Brandy Ann Boyd, and her boyfriend, Austin Payne, both of Cartersville, Georgia, were arrested for Journey Ann’s death.

The coroner’s autopsy revealed that Journey Ann had been systemically beaten prior to her death. Blunt force trauma was the cause of death and the autopsy also showed that she had been beaten previously with bone fractures that never healed properly. If she hadn’t been killed Journey Ann probably would have grown up handicapped due to all the injuries she sustained.

What really grabbed me about this story is this quote from the article…

Investigators said they had not received reports of child abuse in the home from either the Division of Family and Children’s Services or family members.

I don’t know why that struck a chord in me but it got me to thinking about how a lot of child abusers are good at hiding things. How many stories have been posted here where the suspects either moved around to avoid detection or hid behind home schooling? A lot of them are eventually found out but too many of them go undetected until it’s too late.

The police and child protection agencies can’t be everywhere at once so we as citizens need to be their eyes and ears. Maybe you don’t know how to report child abuse. Do you call police, family services, your local crime stoppers? My answer to that is yes to any of the above. I asked someone who works for a child protection agency at what point should someone call in a suspected case of child abuse. They told me if you have any suspicion of child abuse to notify someone. It doesn’t have to be physical signs like bruises or cuts. In case you don’t know who to contact I found a list of each agency in each US state and how they can be contacted. As the old adage goes if you see something say something. However let me also add that you shouldn’t go looking for child abuse everywhere you look. If you look for abuse everywhere you’ll see abuse everywhere whether it exists or not.

I’ll have that link posted on the sidebar as well.

Thanks to Victoria for the tip.
