Leesa Erin Simmons Kills Baby with Dimetapp Overdose, Gets Plea Bargain
Leesa Erin Simmons, 24, of Altamonte Springs, Fla., gave a lethal dose of Dimetapp to her 4-month-old daughter, Aniya. She said she gave her a half-spoonful of Dimetapp to quiet the fussy child yet a laboratory found 100 times the proper dose of the drug’s active ingredient in the dead baby’s system.
Leesa is the mother of three other young children, one was born after her arrest and lives with her. The other children, a three-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy with cerebral palsy, live with their grandmother. A year before Aniya was born, Simmons’ 5-month-old son died from SIDS.
Leesa had been charged with manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years. However, she pleaded no contest to felony child abuse and was sentenced to five years of probation. She is banned her from giving any child medicine without written permission from a doctor, and must attend a 15-week parenting class.
Two dead kids in two years, she fails to show up in court, has two kids taken away from her, no dad(s) in sight, has been pushing kids out like crazy since she was 16, and is stupid enough to give her baby an antihistamine? And all the judge does is make her take a parenting class and give her five years probation?
Who’s more stupid, the judge or the mom? I just pray they take that last kid away from Leesa Simmons before she kills it.
