Conway father charged in baby’s death:

26-year-old Jermaine Obrian Freeman of Conway, NC has been charged in the blunt force trauma death of his 13-month-old daughter Khisha Lachelle Freeman. He is being held without bond.

Hooker...Oops! I meant Kelly

The title of this article, provided by April, is pretty much the only amusing thing related to this incident. Thanks for the tip, and title, April.

Emma Kelly, 22, has killed her one year old child, Jacarra Robinson. Law enforcement is calling the death a result of shaken baby syndrome, but the coroner has listed blunt force trauma to the head as the cause. It’s probably a combination of the two, since the gestation device reportedly admitted shaking Jacarra as well as hitting her in the chest.

Kelly is an unemployed mother of three (one now dead), and pregnant with her fourth. All are under the age of four. Well, at least she stayed busy doing something, hmmm…? As reported, she lived on Hooker Street, and I have to wonder if that street acquired it’s name based on any sort of defining occupation. I also wonder if Kelly was employed in that field. I would think it would be difficult to lose a job as a hooker, though, so maybe she wasn’t a paid entertainment specialist. Maybe it was just a hobby for her.

Kelly had just recently regained custody of Jacarra, after having her removed from the home for reportedly using drugs. Another good call on the part of what passes for DHS in Mississippi. Where DO they keep their brains these days? In a jar on the desk, it would appear. Maybe they take them out and play with them like one of those ’stress-relief squeezy balls’, because they sure as spit aren’t using them to make sound judgment calls.

Kelly said the the baby had been ‘whining a lot’ (what one year old doesn’t?), and so she shook her and hit her in the chest. She took Jacarra to the hospital when her head “started dangling”. This sweet baby was on life support for four days before she died. No one seems to know anything about Jacarra’s father, either – where he is….or even WHO he is. Gee, that’s surprising. My guess would be the other kids have the same aura of mystery surrounding their paternal origins as Jacarra did.

Kelly is being held on $100,000.00 bond, and has been charged with murder. I hope they keep Kelly on watch, and snatch that baby she is carrying as soon as it is born, before it winds up like it’s sister.

Hannah Overton case upheld by appeals court:

I originally posted about Hannah Overton here.

To recap she was convicted of killing 4-year-old Andrew Burd by sodium poisoning and abuse and failure to get him proper treatment. A ‘Free Hannah’ movement grew out of her conviction because she belongs to a church. So because she’s a ‘Christian woman’ she couldn’t have possibly killed Andrew. Apparently her followers never heard of Occam’s Razor which says the most likely answer is usually the correct one.

Anyway her movemnet was dealt a serious blow this past week when The 13th Court of Appeals handed down a 95 page smackdown on the appeal of her conviction. Check out what the appeal itself said…

Overton appealed the conviction on several grounds, including errors in the indictment and jury charge, insufficient evidence, prosecutorial misconduct and a claim of newly discovered evidence. The defense also accused 214th District Judge Jose Longoria of abusing his discretion in allowing testimony from the medical examiner and a doctor who treated the boy.

That’s what I like to call the spaghetti defense. By that I mean they throw everything against the wall and hope that something sticks.

Now let’s hear from one of the Free Hannah movement, Doug Hoffman assistant pastor of Calvary Chapel Coastlands, aka Free Hannah ground zero.

“We are confident that Hannah will be released someday — not just released but found innocent, that she did not intentionally harm this child,” Hoffman said. The ruling “was a punch in the stomach, but it wasn’t totally unexpected from knowing how things are sometimes handled there.”

You can be as confident as you want she’s in jail and will be staying there for the rest of her natural life. This isn’t some kind of Christian persecution or conspiracy, it’s justice.

Jason Lee Jones

The hideous visage above is Jason Lee Jones – career criminal, oxygen thief, and child killer extraordinaire. He lives in Leavenworth Kansas, currently at the expense of the taxpayer, while awaiting trial.

Monica Rivera, 28, allowed a man who had previously been convicted of aggravated assault, and had been arrested previously for child abuse, to live in her house and care for her 4-year old son. Did I say care for? What I meant to say was “beat to death.” Now her son, Gabriel Rivera, is dead; her penis, Jason Lee Jones, is charged with felony murder; and the egg donor herself is MIA. She is currently being sought on a child endangerment charge for leaving little Gabe with Jones.

When the evil BF took Gabe to the hospital, he tried to tell the doctors that the boy had fallen down some stairs. Ho-hum….are all child-abusers this simple? The only thing that gets blamed more than the stairs, is the bed/baby crib. These vicious inanimate objects should be banned from all homes in which children reside. And while we’re at it….lets ban the abusive penises as well.

The little boy was beaten to death by Jones while his mother was at work. He died of blunt force trauma. Why am I not surprised? The fact that this mother was in court when the penis was arraigned, and made eye contact with him, and refused reporters’ questions, just makes me hope that authorities upgrade her charges from endangerment to murder, as well. The little boy was beaten to death, and the mom is lending moral support to his killer. Sickening. It’s bad enough that she allowed this monster in her house at all….but to leave him alone with her son, and then betray her son’s memory like that….what a pathetic excuse for a human being.

I really HOPE that we get a few ‘mother defenders’ on this one. The twat cared more about her personal snatch-filler than she did about the safety and welfare of her child. This wasn’t a case of the egg donor not knowing what this man was…he was a convicted criminal, and had abused children before. This was a case of a hag who didn’t care enough about her son to keep him safe. Child endangerment, my arse – she should be facing charges of criminally negligent homicide, at the very least. She served her son up to this monster on a silver platter, and then offered him seconds.

Jones is being held on $750,000.00 bond, and the wicked witch of the Midwest has disappeared in order to avoid arrest. Police are actively searching for her. If I wanted to be nice, I could attribute Monica’s actions to stupidity. I don’t. This was not a case of ignorance, but of incompetence and apathy. This was willful stupidity – otherwise known as murder.

Spring girl’s death ruled a homicide:

Spring woman, boyfriend charged in death of child:

4-year-old Emma Thompson of Spring, Texas died back in late June. According to the autopsy she died from blunt abdominal trauma. Charged with her death are her mother, 33-year-old Abigail Elizabeth Young, and Young’s boyfriend, 27-year-old Lucas Ruric Coe. The autopsy also revealed that Emma had a fractured skull and vaginal tearing consistent of that with a sexual assault. Not only that but before Emma died she had tested positive for genital herpes in a Texas CPS investigation and was not removed from the home.

It’s alleged that Young lied to CPS about her penis being at the residence. And speaking of said penis he has a history of being investigated by CPS himself for complaints from a 0previous girlfriens about her child. Coe also has a criminal record which should come as no surprise. As a matter of fact in a case of sick irony when Coe was arrested he was wearing a t-shirt that said “It’s all fun and games until the cops show up”. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the receiving end of some ‘fun’ in his new digs.

Normally I don’t let the pictures of the victims affect me but I couldn’t help but notice how full of life Emma seemed to be.

Speaking of life that’s what Young and Coe are both facing.

Dalton Father Charged In Girl’s Death:

29-year-old Nathaniel Roderick Hester of Dalton, Ga. has been charged with murder in the death of his one-month-old daughter Piper Hayden Hester. As much as I hate to say this but it’s the typical story around here about how she died. The autopsy revealed that she died from blunt force trauma but what really got to me is what happened after she died.

Piper’s mother found both the baby and Hester on the floor. Piper was not breathing and Hester was passed out. Police say that alcohol may have been a factor. Ya think? But he took off before paramedics and police arrived but came back before they left. He allegedly ignored the police orders to surrender. It doesn’t say if he got a smackdown or a tasering. With any luck he got both.

Mom’s Boyfriend Charged In 6-Year-Old Boy’s Death:

Ok, I can’t say for sure that he was unemployed but he at least wasn’t working a day job if he was working at all.

Anyway 20-year-old Eder Acosta of Forsyth County, Georgia has been charged in the death of his girlfriend’s 6-year-old son. Acista was supposed to be babysitting the woman’s three kids instead he was rushing one of them to the ER. Acosta dropped off his girlfriend at work at 6:00 AM by 6:30 he was at the ER with the boy in cardiac arrest. The autopsy said that the biy died from internal injuries related to blunt force trauma. The boy was said to be a special education student.

I guess I have to say it again. I’m a firm believer in men taking of their women financially. Call me old fashioned if you will. But ladies if your man can’t provide for himself how do you think he’s going to provide for you?

And I know I’ll catch hell for this but maybe pregnancy outside of marriage needs to become a social stigma again.

Goodyear girl still in hospital 3 weeks after potty-training ‘war’:

What is it about potty training that drives bad parents to violent extremes?

Take for example Raul Varela, 40, and his wife, Tricia Varela, 39, of Goodyear, Arizona. They’re the parents of six kids. They have two biological sons ages 7 and 9, and four adopted daughters ages 2 through 8. You’d think by now that they would have this potty training thing down pat. Apparently not because 3 weeks ago Mrs. Valera brought her 4-year-old daughter to the ER for abdominal pain. As usual in these cases the hospital discovered signs of abuse consisting of bruises on the girls arms, legs, back head and abdomen and had a broken arm. The hospital said that the injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma.

The Valera’s admitted to police that they were in a potty training ‘war’ with their daughter and this is what they allegedly told police…

Raul and Tricia Varela admitted they had caused the girl’s injuries on April 25, the report states. The couple said they forced her on the toilet by restraining her with her hands held behind her back, pushing on her stomach, back and legs and pushing her head down between her legs.

Raul Varela told police he and his wife often force the girl to stay on the toilet for “hours on end” because it’s the only way they can get her to comply, according to the report. He said he was aware doing so causes visible injury and knew she was hurt on April 25 but did not get her medical attention.

The Varelas brought her to the hospital three days later because they thought she was constipated.

Not for the blunt force trauma injuries that riddled this girl’s body but because she was ‘constipated’. Well thank God for constipation or this girl might be dead.

When teaching young children like this things aren’t supposed to be a ‘war’ and more than likely this girl will probably be scarred for life about using the bathroom.

Mother, boyfriend indicted in Fairborn toddler’s death:

Malak Deek and her boyfriend/penis Brian H. LaPrairie, both of Fairborn, Ohio, have been indicted in the December 29th death of Deek’s daughter, 2-year-old Juliana Berry.

Emergency crews were called to the home shortly after Christmas for a child who was non-responsive.

LaPrairie is panicked on the call telling a dispatcher he was “slapping the (expletive)” out of the toddler trying to wake her up.

Yeah, ‘waking her up’. I’m so sure.

Anyway Juliana died from her injuries which an autopsy revealed to be blunt force trauma and battered baby syndrome. That means the abuse allegedly at the hands of LaPrairie for weeks or possibly even months. Which also means that Deek had to have had knowledge of the abuse and did nothing about it.

The couple are both charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering children. LaPrairie also faces murder, felonious assault, having weapons under disability and trafficking marijuana charges.

Nice choice in boyfriends. I still don’t see why some women find it so important to have a man when it means putting their kid’s life in jeopardy.

Woman Found Guilty of Baby’s Clothes Dryer Death:

I originally blogged about Lakeisha Adams here.

In 2005 she was arrested in the death of her 3-month-old son, Jailand. Back then she called police telling them that someone had killed her baby. What she didn’t tell them is that it was her. Later during questioning she admitted to police that she put Jailand in the dryer and turned it on.

Jailand died from blunt force trauma and had burns on his body as well.

This past Saturday Adams was convicted of killing her son. As far as I know she still faces the death penalty and will be sentenced later this month.

Mother Arrested On Suspicion Of Murdering Baby Boy:

38-year-old Lori Burchett of Riverside, California has been arrested in the death of her 17-month-old son, Garrison Burchett.

Investigators believe that Garrison was struck in the head with a blunt instrument and received an abdominal puncture wound.

Garrison’s body was found by his father when he returned home Monday night. Police believe he had no involvement in Garrison’s death.

Parents jailed for toddler’s child abuse death:

20-year-old Kathy Lynn Swafford and her new husband, 42-year-old Dwight Stacey Justice, have both been arrested in the death of Swafford’s son, 2-year-old Jeremiah Ray Swafford.

When paramedics were called to the house for Jeremiah being unresponsive it was reported that he had a giant bruise on his forehead.

Doctors determined that Jeremiah was killed by blunt force trauma among other injuries.

Swofford’s family suspected abuse and took Jeremiah to the hospital but he was returned to his mother and Cleveland County social services would not get involved.

Do you know what I hate? Well, most things really but I have something specific in mind today. I hate just about any ‘Free Whoever’ movements when the evidence clearly showed that the person who they want free has no business being free. For example my opposition to the “Free Mumia” movement is well documented.

So I’m sure you’re wondering what this has to do with bad parenting or child abuse. Well, another case of people wanting to free a convicted criminal has been brought to my attention. It seems there is a movement to free one Hannah Overton. Who is Hannah Overton you ask? Let me tell you.

At the age of two Andrew Burd was placed into foster care. He lived for 18 months with Sharon Hamil. Ms. Hamil is a widow with grown children who took very good care of Andrew and never had any behavioral or medical problems with him. However she felt that Andrew would do better in a two parent household. This is where the Overtons stepped in. They took Andrew into what on the surface seemed like an ideal household. They were a religious family with 4 children of their own. But as we all know religion doesn’t mean squat when it comes to bad parenting.

In May of 2006 Andrew had a medical exam that was required by social services. The doctor who examined Andrew found him to be totally healthy. The Overtons then started the procedure to adopt Andrew.

Later that year it is claimed that Andrew had a voracious apeteite and was constantly overeating. This is where things started to go wrong for Andrew.

Hannah Overtin and her supporters claim that while Andrew was on one of his eating binges Hannah sprinkled a small amount of Zatarain’s seasoning into his sippy cup with water to get him to stop eating. Allegedly that plan backfired and Andrew enjoyed the taste of it. Later that night Andrew started to have respiratory problems, flu like symptoms, and started vomiting. Hannah, who was studying to be an EMT and LVN, did not call 911. Rather than doing that she made some phone calls, looked up ’shock’ in her EMT book, then finally, 90 minutes later, took Andrew not to an emergency room but an urgent care clinic. From the urgent care Andrew was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately Andrew did not survive.

When the autopsy was performed the cause of death was ruled as sodioum poisoning with a secondary factor of blunt force trauma. Hospiatl workrers also noticed bruising in his body and an untreated wound on his arm that was consistent with a burn. The Overtons were arrested for Andrew’s death.

During the investigation one of the Overtons biological children told police that Hannah Overton would use pepper as a form of punishment and that Hannah would watch over Andrew with a security cam. One might assume that since she was using a security cam they she may have been locking Andrew in the room, the same room where it was alleged that Andrew was forced to sleep on a piece of plywood.

Larry Overton cut a deal that kept him out of prison to care for his other kids. Hannah went to trial and was convicted of Andrew’s murder and was sentenced to life in prison.

As with most of these movements thay have a website that allegedly outlines all the ways that Hannah Overton is ‘innocent’. I’m not going to link to them because they don’t deserve the traffic. However check out what they say about the accusation that Hannah Overton used pepper as a form of punishment…

Lie: Hannah regularly forced spices down her children’s throats

Truth: Nether I or the leadership of Calvary Chapel have ever told anyone how to specifically discipline their children as was a rumor on the blogs and reported by TV stations in CC. Instead of soap (which is common,) “Focus on the Family” recommends Tabasco sauce on the tongue when a child cusses or lies. Reasoning, soap is toxic and Tabasco sauce is a food substance and much safer. A respected friend of Hannah’s recommended one fleck of “Pizza Hut” pepper (again a food substance) on the tongue when a child lied or cussed. This has nothing to do with the Zaterain’s seasoning and was never been used as discipline on Andrew or any of the younger children. Confusion arose with the term “pepper” because the families’ favorite drink is Dr. Pepper and is referred to as Pepper by the whole family.

Seriously, that’s the best you can come up with? A 1/4 teaspon of Zataran’s contains 240mg of salt. For the amount of sodium that was found in Andrew’s body he would have to have ingested 10 times that amount. Yet they say the kid who talked to police must have been confused with Dr. Pepper

Here’s what they say about the blunt force trauma…

Lie: Hannah beat Andrew on the head causing blunt force head trauma

Truth: No doctor reported any bruising on the scalp prior to the autopsy. Even in the autopsy there was no bruising on the scalp but only underneath it. A medical examiner from San Francisco , top graduate from Harvard explained that this would be a result of the high sodium in his blood and his bloods inability to clot. Turns out I rubbed his head all day in the hospital and even this could have caused his sub-skin bruising.

At least they didn’t go with the ‘he walked into a table’ defense we see so much. Blunt force trauma doesn’t always produce a bruise. As many times as I’ve had concussions none of them bruised the skin.

But their main argument seems to be why would she abuse a child that she could just give back? Apparently they don’t read this site much. I can cite several stories on this website alone where foster children had been abused to the point of death. There doesn’t have to be a reason but the main reason is usually greed with some foster parents collecting government money.

As with most of these movements there have been an ongoing number of appeals to try and get this convicted killer turned loose. If you want to help you can send correspondence in support of Hannah’s conviction to…

Shaneka Washington, 21, of Benton Harbor, Mich. is charged with felony murder following the death of her 10-month-old child, Janiya. After two days in the hospital following emergency surgery, Janiya died of a brain hemorrage.

Washington called 911 to report that Janiya was having trouble breathing. She told officers that her daughter had been sick for several days. There were no obvious wounds or marks on the child, but doctors later diagnosed blunt force trauma to the head.

Janiya’s twin, and her two and three-year-old brother and sister may been abused by their mother as well. The kids are with protective services.

I know there are women out there who are single, very young, and have had several kids in quick succession, and do a terrific job parenting. However, time and time again, I see these “babies having babies” who are abusing and killing their little ones. Maybe it’s time that clinics, hospitals, schools, social workers, and child protection agencies start identifying, tracking, and checking in on ”at risk” parents before they hurt their kids. I can’t see anyway else to prevent it.
