“I have five uncontrollable kids…”

Police: Iowa man locked 5 kids in bedroom all day
UPDATE: Police say Westgate child abuser used secret door

I wasn’t sure I would be able to post another story today. After having posted the one about little Peyton earlier, my eyes are still red from weeping about that poor child. However, I decided that the sheer volume of asininity involved in this situation warranted immediate attention.
Sooooo…..this is a two-fer….kinda. Same people involved, same children, but different charges on different days – but I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me begin at the beginning.

The two outstanding individuals who grace the page just above are crack snacker Joshua Steinbronn, 28, and his main snatch (or is that snack? Oh well, apply the descriptor any way you like), Jonya Smith, 29. It seems that these two stellar parents (and I use that term loosely) thought it would be more fun to have pets than kids, so they decided to keep all five kids locked in a single room for hours (sometimes a full day), with no food, water, or access to a bathroom. Oh, wait, I have to add “allegedly” here. The kids were “allegedly” locked up like animals. According to the children themselves. But who’s keeping score, right?

Let’s back up a little more. This story has me so wound up that I can’t decide which order to share the information. Jonya is the mother of five children between the ages of 3 and 9, whose names are not available – presumably to protect their identities since they are all minors. Let that sink in for a minute. Five children over a seven year period. Not unheard of, but dayum, she was a busy little thing, wasn’t she? Joshua is NOT the babydaddy. For any of them. Neither of the linked articles mention the father(s?) of the children, so I have to wonder if she knows herself. But, that’s just speculation on my part.

Anyway, to get back to the story. On Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, deputies responded to a ‘domestic disturbance’ at a Westgate, Iowa home. The article doesn’t say what kind of home, but I am leaning toward the “mobile” type – you’ll understand why a little further along. Upon arrival, LE noticed ‘several’ children yelling out of a window, and crying. They told officers that they had been locked in the bedroom by their birth organism’s current penis du jour. Ho hum. This one is already sounding familiar, huh? ‘Not-the-daddy’ abusing plaything’s kids. The children went on to describe multiple incidents of confinement, and added that they were given no food, water or access to a bathroom for up to 24 hours. They were given cups to pee in, and sometimes had to use the floor as a toilet. Clothing and baby diapers were also conveniently provided for their waste removal needs. How thoughtful. Or gross, depending on how you want to look at it. One of the children had injured her leg trying to escape at some point. I would also surmise that the children were likely not paragons of hygiene, either – if they were not afforded a toilet or basic food, I sincerely doubt the two adult vermin in the home bothered to let them bathe often. I could be wrong – but I doubt it.

Joshua has been charged with five counts each of false imprisonment and child endangerment, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia (LE found a glass tube and scale that both tested positive for meth). According to the first article, he was released on a $5,000.00 unsecured bond, and ordered to stay away from the children.

Meanwhile, bio-slag was busy telling police that they had the story wrong. Her man would never abuse her children. They were making things up. And blah, blah, blah. Then she said that she and boy-toy locked the kids in their rooms as punishment for disobedience. But never, I swear, NEVER for anywhere near 24 hours. Poor thing! Her horrible kids are lying about her and the BF! What rotten kids! Yeah, right. I’m not buying that load of manure. Sorry, I’m not a farmer, and don’t need the fertilizer right now. Try calling the FFA, wench, THEY might be in need of some BS for their fields. The walking uterus went on to say that Jerk-ua, was not a bad man, and that she had five uncontrollable kids who needed his brand of discipline. Not one, not two, not three, not four….but ALL five of her kids were uncontrollable. Gee, I wonder if that has anything to do with the way they have been raised? Or abused. Take your pick. Perhaps if she had had a parenting class or two, her kids wouldn’t be so ‘uncontrollable’. But I digress. There is much more to this part of the story, but you can read about it tin the first link – I need to move along.

This brings us to the “two” in Two-fer. The scintillating snapshot above depicts two other people who were living in the ‘home’ at the time of the incident. Both of them were also arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, at the time of Jerk-ua’s arrest. Apparently the mother was spared at that time, AND allowed to retain custody of her children. I can not fathom why. Regardless, within a few days she, too would be behind bars. Why, you ask? Because she is an idiot. Allegedly. One of the idiotic comments she made to authorities when the Jerk was first arrested was that she would continue to discipline her children as she sees fit. Ummm…not so much, I guess. Not if you’re in jail.

It seems that Little Miss Thang, otherwise known as the babymama, aided Jerk-ua in disregarding that protective order mentioned above. Apparently there is a ‘secret door’ under the house that opens into a closet, by which the Jerk has been having conjugal visits with mommy dearest. (This is why I mentioned earlier that I suspected that their home was a ‘mobile’ home. Usually actual houses are not set up such that you can make an entrance to a closet from under the house.) Oops! Somebody reported them, and they are now both residents of the grey bar motel. They have both been arrested – he for violation of a protective order, and she for A&A, child endangerment, and driving on a suspended license. They should also charge her with criminal stupidity and meanness, IMHO. But I don’t think those things are crimes at this point – just character flaws. No word on bonds for either of them, but thankfully, the children have been removed and placed with others. Others who will feed them, and allow them bathroom privileges. Oh, and not lock them up. That’s pretty important, too.

Trial set for Iowa woman in baby’s crash death

A Kanawha area mother is set for trial after killing her 6-month-old.

Around 2 in the afternoon on October 8th 2010 Nicole Jacobs, 37, put her 6-month-old son Lincoln in the van along with his 4-year-old sister Kailyn and her 4-year-old girlfriend Mackenzie .

She was already drunk and well above the legal limit when she got into her van. In her pickled state she forgot to buckle any of the children into their seats. I am sure everyone can guess what happened next.

Nicole Jacobs lost control of the van, rolled into a ditch and all the children were ejected. The van landed on top of poor little Lincoln, killing him. I could not imagine what went through the mind of the two 4-year-olds as they experienced the accident.

Nicole Jacobs was arrested at the scene and but had to be hospitalized due to injuries she received during the accident. For some reason I have no feelings of sympathy for the useless hag.

Nicole Jacobs has since been charged with:

1) Homicide by vehicle, class B felony

2) Child Endangerment causing death, class B felony

3) Serious injury by vehicle, class D felony

4) Child Endangerment causing bodily injury, class D felony

5) Child Endangerment causing serious injury, class C felony

6) Operating while intoxicated, 1st offense, serious misdemeanor

Damn right!

I’d like to charge her with being a reckless and selfish cant. Her trial is set for September 2011 and I expect nothing less then prison time for the trauma she subjected these kids to.

Thanks Lisa Marie for the tip!

Rest in peace Lincoln Jacobs, 4/9/2010-10/8/2010.

Iowa City Mom failed to stop sex abuse

Iowa City Mom failed to stop sex abuse

In Iowa City, Iowa there is a deadbeat Mom who knew her teenage daughter was sexually abusing her 6-year-old daughter and broadcasting it over the internet!

Mom-of-the-year (so far) has been charged with child endangerment.

The police report says that the little girl told her mother that her 15-year-old sister was performing sex acts on her and let others watch via a webcam. She knew and didn’t do anything about it!

According to The Gazette of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City Police Sgt. Denise Brotherton says once some abuse “comes to your attention, you’re expected to take actions to keep your children safe, and that’s what this woman did not do.”

The teenage sister has been charged with sexual abuse.

And both girls have been separated from each other and their mother.

*Thanks go to Heather who sent us a tip from her hometown… her link did not work but this story was found within it (I hope it was the same one).

Tamelia Harris killed “CC”

CECILIA “CC” DENISE HARRIS – 20 Months – Dubuque IA

Mother Accused of Murder Makes Initial Court Appearence

Tamelia Shonte Harris, 32, has been charged with First Degree Murder of her 20-month-old daughter, Cecilia, known as “CC”, and then burned her tiny body in a fire pit behind her house.

Cecilia had last been seen in June wearing a white T-shirt. In July, remains of a young girl were found on her property. After DNA tests were completed they announced they were in fact those of baby Cecilia.

Police had found bloodstains in the little girls bedroom on the walls and in the closet. According to a friend, Harris told her that slammed the girls head on the headboard and threw her into the closet.

Harris has been charged with negligence as well for providing false information to authorities. She had a few stories in line for when the investigation began – she claimed that she sent the girl to live with her grandmother – but Harris’ mother denied having her and hadn’t seen the baby. She then claimed that she sent her to a friend but did not provide any more info.

A neighbor noticed that Harris seemed to be missing one of her seven children. The tip was called in when Social Services reported that she had sent her daughter to live with someone else.

Harris had her first court appearance last week. She did not say one word, she nodded yes when the judge asked her if she understood murder charge she now faces.

Harris faces a maximum sentence of life in prison with no parole. She is being held in Dubuque County Jail on a $750,000 cash only bond.

Brian Martin is possibly the fastest drunk alive

Police: Father Grabs Drink While Kids Play Outside Bar:

29-year-old Brian Martin of Des Moines, Iowa was arrested on child endangerment and public intoxication after his kids were found wandering around the bar parking lot.

The bartender says that he was only in there for 5-10 minutes which means he was either blind stinking drunk before he got there or he drank in an entire keg in those 10 minutes because he blew a stupidly impressive .233 BAC.

At the time of his arrest Martin allegedly said that “maybe I’m not in any condition to take care of my kids.”

Ya think?

With that BAC we have a new champion sitting atop the BB BAC Board.

7-month-old chokes on bag of weed in ambulance

UPDATE: Couple arrested after baby chokes on bag of pot:

In possibly the most Jerry Springer-like arrest I have ever seen Amanda Monique Mallit, 18, and Horace Phillip, 18, of Waterloo, Iowa have been arrested. Before I tell you the charges let me tell you how it allegedly came about.

Rescue services were called to the house after the pregnant Mallit was assaulted at their house by a third party.

While in the ambulance being transported to the hospital Mallit’s 7-month-old daughter began to choke. What a stroke of luck that they were in the ambulance at the time and the girl was able to be saved. What was not so lucky is that the girl was choking on a plastic bag with weed in it.

Which gave police probable cause to search the house which turned up even more weed. Phillip copped to the weed allegedly. I’ll give him points for at least allegedly manning up. But wait, there’s more…

After Mallit was released from the hospital and police tried taking the child into custody she allegedly shook the girl.

The only thing missing from this story is Maury and a paternity test. Or maybe Geraldo and some folding chairs.

Thanks to Suzanne for the tip.

18-year-old with 16-year-old wife fractures baby’s skull

Police: Baby Suffers Fractured Skull, Broken Neck:

Des Moines dad allegedly fractures 5-month-old son’s skull:

18-year-old Paul Russell Davis of Des Moines, Iowa is accused of fracturing the skull and breaking the neck of his 5-month-old son.

It seems that Davis got into an argument with his 16-year-old wife, also the mother of the child. She took a walk to cool off leaving the baby with Davis. The baby cried as they are wont to do. Since you’re reading this here you can pretty much figure what happened next.

Davis said the baby was crying as he sat in his swing. He said he “snatched the baby” out of the swing and threw the baby in his crib. He said he then grabbed the child from out of the crib and shook him in an attempt to keep him awake until he fell limp.

First off who allows their 16-year-old daughter to get married? I’m all for the traditional family unit but no 16-year-old girl should be a wife let alone a mother.

Secondly who the hell doesn’t know that you don’t snatch and throw infants? This isn’t some kind of twisted olympic event.

All the education that we have out there for kids in schools and teen pregnancy rates are still through the roof. We have failed our children as a society.

Thanks to John L for the tip.

Kid at home, mom at bar. What else is new?

Des Moines mom arrested on neglect charge:

I used to drink. As a matter if fact I used to drink a lot. I’m not an alcoholic or anything but it my 20s I drank to excess once or twice or a hundred times. So I get it. I remember how fun it was. I also remember each and every time I paid for it in one way or another. Luckily I grew up before I really harmed anyone. The Blob over there, not so much.

She’s 29-year-old Jennifer Cordova of Des Moines, Iowa. She went to a bar and left her 5-year-old daughter at home.

Officers found an unlocked door, opened it and announced themselves. The police report says the 5-year-old, Imelda Hernandez, came around a corner and ran to the officers.

“Imelda immediately wanted to be held and was unable to speak,” police said.

She told officers she was afraid of monsters in the basement. She appeared to be terrified and traumatized.

Imelda pointed to Officer Leanna Lawrence and repeatedly said she wanted to go home with her.

But it’s ok because Cordova supposedly called home from the bar at 1:30 AM.

Guess what. 5-year-olds aren’t supposed to be up at 1:30 AM. Then again their mothers are supposed to be home at that time too.

Thanks to Bridget for the tip.

Michelle Kehoe gets life

Iowa mom gets life for murdering son; barred from contacting surviving son:

I originally posted about Michelle Kehoe here. She is the woman who survived an ‘accident’ with her two kids after her van flew into a river.

Apparently that may not have been the proper results she wanted because in November of last year she slit the throats of her two kids ages 2 and 7 left them in the van to die in a parking lot. She told police that a stranger took the kids. The 7-year-old survived but the 2-year-old did not.

This past week she was sentenced to life behind bars for the murder of her 2-year-old son and she’s been ordered not to have any contact with her surviving son.

Thanks to Bridget for the tip.

Oh the weather outside is frightful

Laurens boy exposed to cold is taken from parents:

37-year-old Eugene G. Lane and his 30-year-old bride Stacy Joe Lane of Laurens, Iowa were cited and released for child endangerment. Their 7-year-old son was found walking the streets of Lauren in boots with no socks, jeans with no underwear, a T-shirt and a light winter jacket. Did I mention that it was -8 degrees in Lauren with a wind chill of -39? And oh yeah, he was taken by DHS. Their four other kids remained in the ‘parents’ custody.

The child was shivering so bad when someone found him that he could barely even speak.

No word on why he had walked a half mile like that.
