Parenting so bad, it's criminal

7 hours at a bar = one dead child

Cops: Jeffco baby died after dad left, went to bar:

23-year-old Joseph Trujillo of Jefferson County, Colorado allegedly went and drank at a bar for 7 hours. That’s a monumental amount of drinking. The problem was he was supposed to be watching his girlfriend’s five month old baby at home. So to put two and two together the baby was at home alone while Trujillo was getting his drink on.

Unfortunately the baby died. The details of the baby’s death have been sealed.

Trujillo is not the baby’s father.

Now I know you’re thinking where was the mother. She’s got a legitimate reason for not being there as she is serving our country in the military overseas.

Can you imagine being thousands of miles from home in a war zone finding out that your child has died due to the neglect of your boyfriend who thought 7 hours at a bar while your infant was home alone.

It’s unfathomable.

Thanks to Kim for the tip.

  1. I still blame the mother. The baby is five months old? She is overseas? Why the hell was this STRANGER watching her baby? Where is the baby’s dad? This child should not have been with some dude she obviously barely knows. Who goes overseas and leaves their baby with a man they have only been dating a short time?

    1. Someone who has no other choice for childcare during a deployment. Please do not attempt to shift blame from the person who was supposed to be taking care of the child, especially to attack a single parent soldier. Yes, she might not have picked the best person to watch the baby, but she might have also had no choice in caretakers, and still had to deploy. She didn’t make him go out drinking at the bar for 7 hours and leave the baby home alone.

      1. I agree! This woman was serving our country, it’s not like she was on vacation in the Mediterranean. And, chances are, she was already a solder before she got pregnant and was granted maternity leave to have the baby. Of course she’d have no choice but to go back after the baby was born if she hadn’t completed her enlisted time whether or not she could find a decent caretaker for her child.

This waste of oxygen should be thrown in prison for life.

      2. I am sure she could have got discharged based on need to be home. Or she could have given her child to people who could actually care for it..

        1. Considering that Trujillo was the baby’s father, that is unlikely. The baby was left with his father. The mother would have been able to prove that he was unfit, and that takes time she likely didn’t have before leaving (if she was even aware that he was unfit). Even if she left the baby with her mother (as an example) the father would have been allowed visitation while she was away, or even if she stayed. The end results could easily have been the same.

          1. Sorry, meant to say “unless the mother was able to prove he was unfit, but that takes time she likely didn’t have before shipping out.”

    2. This story is wrong who ever wrote this needs to get there facts straight Joe is the babies dad (biologically) he just got custody of his son like a week before this tragidy i know him an there is something missing in this story because i really cant imagine him leaving his son he was so proud he was getting custody and he really loved him i know there has to be something missing

      1. Okay – first of all: tragedy not tragidy. Also, PUNCTUATION!!! Are you 3??? And what fuck difference does it make if he was the bio-dad or not?? He was out partying and a baby (his or not) that HE was responsible for is dead. You are right. Something is missing – your fucking brain cells. Now, scamper off to find them. As small as they are, you shouldn’t let them wander off. 😈

        1. April,
so glad that you can spell and correct my mistakes thank you!!! hope that makes you feel better about yourself…

    3. ok let me spell this out for you he was the babies father not a stranger and how dare you this woman is fighting for your country how are you going to blame her why dont you fight then maybe she wouldnt have to please dont be dumb there are no facts in the case that we know yet but the 1 fact is adrian’s mom is NOT TO BLAME

  3. Let’s give the mother the benefit of the doubt: he was perfectly sane and good Dad until she left -where the &^%$ was everyone else? Did no one notice this guy wasn’t fit to care for a baby?

We could assume, that even if its not his child, he’s been with the mom for years and years. She cheated and he forgave her. It *could* be (highly unlikely)

  7. It also says there was a live-in Grandma in that article, janedoe. Leaves me to wonder if the baby was supervised.

    1. im wondering the same thing myself. it sounds like there was an adult present. it makes me wonder if this is just tragedy…that dad left the babe in the care of grandma, it got late, she went to bed and when dad got home, baby was dead. granted, 7 hours at a bar sounds like…holy shit…but thinking back to my girlfriends birthday last year, we got to the bar at 7pm, had dinner and didnt leave till closing…thats 7 hours. im wondering if there is somethng thats not being said by the news, and that may be the possibility considering they arrested him. im gonna keep and eye on this one

      1. The article in the Denver paper stated the grandma who lived in the same apartment worked afternoons & evenings. When she got home from work & saw that her son wasn’t home, she assumed he had taken the baby somewhere, and so she went to bed. She woke up to the sound of her son crying & found him holding the dead baby. She’s been interviewed & is not being held at fault at all by the authorities. She’s completely devastated. This lies solely on the father.

        1. then i completely agree that this “father” is an asshole imho…. i didnt see that article..thanks lirpa

  9. I am stunned. While this woman was serving her country, NO ONE cared enough about her 5 month old, to watch him? And who the hell drinks for 7 hours???

The baby wasn’t in the crib when she got home?? Where in the fuck was the baby?? On the bed? In the bathtub??? Something is missing.

  13. April, I agree about the grandma. Regardless of what she assumed she could have still checked around. The baby never cried, if it was alone and she was there? Was he dead before the grandma got home? I guess we will have to wait for autopsy results for a clearer picture. Something definitely doesn’t add up.

    1. Are we sure he didn’t leave the baby in the car?? Something isn’t right about this story. Did he kill the baby before he left?? Sheesh. So many questions. I have searched for answers and all I came up with is that this douche bag has the same birthday as me.

  15. I am so sick about this. why would you leave a child alone for hours. Something stinks… how did this baby just die?

    1. I agree… so far, the only thing we can be sure of is that this “father” screwed up somehow and this innocent baby paid the ultimate price for it. Having a 4 month old baby here, I can’t imagine leaving him alone.

      1. I don’t leave my 9 year old alone. Common sense tells us that a child needs to be able to make rational decisions and fend for themselves before you leave them alone for any amount of time. My son has never been left alone othwer that the time it takes for me to run the trash out. But we aren’t talking about a 9 year old. See – my son can call for help on the phone. He can knock on the neighbor’s door. A 5 month old can’t. I need more info. In my mind I am thinking that this baby was dead for a while – maybe even before the fuckhead went out to party. That’s why he was okay with leaving him alone. The grandmother looked in the crib and the baby was not there. Naturally she thought the child was out with the father. So where was the baby while she was home??? In the car outside of the bar? Or in the house, hidden, already dead??

  17. I am thinking that the contents of the “sealed” info is probably that the baby was abused by him prior to going to the bar, he tried to drink away his guilty feelings and was shaking in his boots….then when he got home, saw the baby and all of the booze in the world can’t take away that kind of feeling. Just a thought….

  19. Brittany, So this guy only had custody for ONE week? Then goes out drinking leaving the infant alone??? This is where the ” 2 wrongs don’t make a right” comes into play, as well as yourself.
You “can’t imagine him doing this” Oh well, then we’d better set the Police straight. You must know all, and why don’t you tell the police that??? You know it wouldn’t fly, that’s why.
You have no business stating such a ignorant, factless comment like that. Take your opinion and go to visit Trujillo at prison with it…

    1. I agree if he is guilty then of course he is wrong all im saying is there are no facts that we know about yet an for you to call me ignorant is a little special seeing as how you know nothing about this…if he is found guilty then my opinion will be set in stone and obviously different until then im just sceptical so dont be rude!

  21. If I worked all afternoon/evening and came home to no adults, then I would assume there were no babies. It doesn’t sound like grandma’s fault. Something is wrong with his story/actions, so I’m wondering what he did. My heart goes out to the mother and other family. It is NOT mom’s fault, so I hope she doesn’t let any p.o.s. make her think it is.

  23. Damn! It’s eating my comments.

This fuck admitted what he did. He left his son alone on the bed with pillow surrounding him and a bottle of formula propped up on his chest. His mother even told the cops she thought he took the baby to the bar because she knew he had a drinking problem. Yet she never wandered down there to check on the child. I held back from blaming her, but now I do.

I can’t post the link because the site keeps eating my comment when I do. It’s all in the 9 news website.

    1. April, I read this article yesterday and it makes me sick! i did stand up for this guy because i thought i knew him but i was dead wrong. I deserve all the shitty comments that came my way for deffending this guy. I try to see good in people but this makes me realize that some people are just not good. i hope he gets exactly what he deserves…

      1. Brittany, no one wants to believe that someone they know and love could be uilty of such a crime. Unfortunately, sometimes it happens. Thanks for being one of the few people that come here and admit when they are wrong in defending these people. You have offically earned my respect. 😉

  25. Poor baby. This piece of crap should have been responsible and gotten a babysitter if he wanted to get his drink on. If someone can afford booze, he can afford a babysitter.

  26. Poor baby. This piece of crap should have been responsible and gotten a babysitter if he wanted to get his drink on. If someone can afford booze, he can afford a babysitter.

  27. All you people are idiots. He did not murder his son. Joe is one of my best friends the baby died from sids. The media loves to throw people under the bus. Should he have reported the death, yes. He was so scared and just wanted his baby to breath again. Joe is a great person and has been through so much. He loved his baby with all his heart. All you people just go by what the news says and they dont know anything. Leave the poor guy alone because he did not murder his son. The corner ruled that the baby died from sids. The baby had no signs of abuse at all!! Get a life everyone who wants to believe the pathetic media and leave my dear friend alone. Its bad enough he has to live everyday of his life missing his child!!!!!!

    1. He DIDN’T leave the baby alone for several hours, with pillows on either side of his little head and a bottle with just 6 ounces of formula propped on his chest? He didn’t leave a tiny infant to fend for himself so he could go out and get his drink on with a woman who was NOT his girlfriend? I pray to GOD you don’t have any children of your own, because if you think THAT constitutes a good parent who loves his child, your own kids are probably doomed too.

This baby didn’t die of SIDS. Coroner’s often slap that on a death certificate if they don’t know what else to say. Any idiot with half a brain would look at the conditions in which the baby was left and realize he likely suffocated from the pillows.

Even if the baby HAD died of SIDS, your idiot friend left him alone — a 5-month-old infant — for hours. He admitted this to police. And guess what, your good friend, whom you know so well that you’re defending his idiocy here, pleaded GUILTY.

The only thing in your friend’s favor is that he had the humanity to be upset by the baby’s death. Of course, maybe he wasn’t upset so much at the baby’s loss but at how much of a shit-storm was about to descend on his own miserable head because of it.

Please don’t waste our time posting here again until you have something intelligent to say.

    2. He should live every day missing his child.  Sids, my ass.  Go scream it from rooftops.  You won’t get any sympathy here.
