Frostbite vs. Blunt Force Trauma

northpole

Autopsy says dead toddler had been burned:

In North Pole, Alaska, police recently arrested 24-year-old Amber Lynn Aubrey Swanson in the death of her 18-month-old son, Julian Swanson-Byrd.

Swanson told the staff at the local hospital that Julian had frostbite after falling from a car window into the snow. She claimed that she took Julian for a drive to get him to sleep and when she stopped the car she fell asleep. When she woke up she claims that Julian somehow opened the window and climbed out of the car and was face down in the snow. She brought him to the hospital after he had already passed.

Except when the autopsy was done the medical examiner claims that the frostbite was actually thermal burns and that Julian had died from blunt force trauma to the head.

I’m not sure the type of car involved in this story but let’s say for a moment that Julian fell from the window of the car. I would assume that most people in a place like North Pole would drive trucks or SUVs or some kind of 4×4 which can be pretty tall. Combine the height of the alleged fall and the amount of snow that would have been present to cover the boy’s body like that could the fall have caused the blunt force trauma. I’m thinking no. Not to mention the frostbite wasn’t even frostbite to begin with.

Again here’s a thought people, the doctors are smarter than you. Instead of thinking up lies in order to get yourself out of trouble how about not abusing your kids in the first place?

Thanks to Blue for the tip.

  1. I went to school with Amberlynn, and saw her around town a few weeks before this happened. She actually just drives a smallish car, like ford taurus sized. ( there’s actually lots of cars here even in winter) the trauma was most definitely not caused by the fall, especially factoring in that the troopers found no evidence if anyone laying in the snow at the gravel pit. I am really interested to know what really happened, more stuff is supposed to go on in court tomorrow regarding this case. I feel so sorry for her little boy, he was so cute and sweet seeming. This one really breaks my heart.

    1. Thanks, and please keep us updated! I’m sure you all must get a tad sick of the whole Santa thing up there, but this one hurts my heart a little extra, being right before Christmas like it is. I want to picture that poor little boy in his reindeer jammies in front of a giant mountain of presents Christmas morning feeling nothing but love from his mom. That he was tossed out in the snow like trash… That just sucks.

      1. Luckily I don’t live right in North Pole, but in Fairbanks which is maybe a 15 minute drive between the two. I went to school in North Pole though. There’s christmas lights on the light poles all year long, a giant statue of Santa, and a place called the Santa Claus house which sells christmas stuff all year long and has real reindeer living outside. It’s kind of a fun novelty but it gets old fast lol.

        1. I watched a few minutes of the show “Buying Alaska” where they showed a couple a house in North Pole, just watching that little bit of the town made me think about having to live there full time…. It wouldn’t be on my Top 100 list for just that reason, it would get SO old, SO quick, and I love Christmas! ;-P

  2. Perhaps she (or a penis) beat the boy to death and then tried to burn his body to hide the evidence…

    1. I thought about that to, it foes not sound as though the burns were overly extensive and only bound on the upper body but it could be way worse than described. They find find a blow torch in her car.

She did have his body for a few days based on what hospital staff stated. No idea how long.

    2. On a random side note I am trying to sort out what your profile picture is? It looks like a kiwi drinking from a glass but can’t figure out what’s on its face?

Just made me curious. I lived in New Zealand for just over a year, and that’s where my husband is from.
Judging by your user name you are clearly Australian though 🙂

      1. It is indeed a kiwi drinking from a glass with a smile on it’s face. The pic comes from the very first story I wrote for BB, called “Horrid Hutt Hovel” http://badbreeders.net/2013/01/11/horrid-hutt-hovel/

  3. Thermal burns? Is that like from being exposed to heat or ice? Either way it sounds like this little feller didn’t have a happy life. RIP little man.

    1. Thermal burs are heat, at least in this case. Frostbite is from being exposed to cold outdoor temps.

      1. In the early (eg milder) stages, thermal burns and frostbite can look quite similar but by the time it becomes more severe the appearance is very different. Someone who knew a bit but not much about burns might think they could get away with it, not realising the severity of the burn will give it away.

  4. Well they injuncted Amberlynn last night. They did not say what she plead, although I heard a rumor it was no contest. I assume it will now start going to trial at some point.

    1. Amberlynn? Choke on a fucking dick you sick little bitch. How can you actually be alive and well and your wee boy has died a horrific death because of you? Your supposed to care for him and love him.

      1. Did you mean to reply to Amanda? Are you calling her Amberlynn? Or was it meant to be a post on it’s own? Just curious. 😉

  5. Thanks for sharing this informative post with us.

  6. They arraigned Amberlynn again yesterday, no one said what she pled. They have her on 2 counts of murder 1 and 1 count of tampering with evidence. seems like she is just staying in jail until the trial starts in late April.

  8. I’m really behind on news! I live in fairbanks just a few minutes from north pole!! That’s just awful. Makes me sick. That bitch. I worry about my kids constantly. Probably more than I need to. I try not to be overbearing. I don’t understand how she could be so cruel to an innocent child who thinks youre the best thing in the world. A parent is God in a child’s eyes.
The disgrace in my own region. Just awful.
