Toddlers kept in cages, but there's more to the story

A 38-year-old mother of 5, Malista Ness-Hopkins, was released on bail September 12 after having been arrested for five felony counts of child abuse on July 28. The children, ages 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, were removed from the home by Accomack County Social Services in response to a complaint made about the home. Social workers found the 2- and 3-year-old children in cribs with makeshift tops screwed onto them. The home was said to be filthy, infested with bugs, and reeking of urine. The children were also reported to be dirty and covered with insect bites.

Usually, I would be totally unsympathetic toward any parent who treated their children this way and who lived in such deplorable conditions, but something struck me differently in this case.

First, Ms. Ness-Hopkins’ attorney told the court she was an overwhelmed single mother, which is easy to believe, with 5 children in the home ranging from 1 to 6 years old. Probably at least 3 of them were in diapers or pull-ups, which would be enough to overwhelm any parent, single or not.

Second, one sentence in the story spoke volumes to me–the young (age 33) father of some of the children died unexpectedly in May of 2016. This most likely left Ms. Ness-Hopkins depressed, grieving, alone, etc. She reportedly was a college student who made honor roll in 2010, so her issues are not due to lack of intelligence, but probably more due to depression and isolation. With no reports being made until the oldest child was 6, apparently she was able to care for them adequately until July of this year. That’s after over a year of trying to do it all on her own while dealing with the grief of losing the father to her kids. Cut her some slack, maybe.

The judge who granted bail did so on the condition she gets a mental health evaluation and follows any treatment recommendations.

The Virginia child abuse hotline number is 800-552-7096.

A roach infested trailer is not a clown car

Not the trailer in question

I’ve had fun at the expense of people who live in trailers in the past. To be honest I’ve been in some trailers that would put a lot of homes to shame. Unfortunately this is not the case in this story and this is what tends to perpetuate the trailer park stereotype.

Recently in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, SEVEN people were arrested on child abuse charges after investigators allegedly found FIFTEEN children living in the trailer under squalid conditions. For the mathematically challenged that’s TWENTY-TWO people living in one trailer. Even if it’s a double wide that is some pretty crowded conditions.

With seven adults living in the ‘home’ you would think that they could all pitch in together and keep the place reasonably clean. You would also be wrong. According to reports the place was covered in roaches, the pre-requisite animal feces and that the kids were swimming in an above ground pool filled with algae. All 15 kids were taken into protective custody by DSS.

To perpetuate the stereotype even further there was this little tidbit within the article…

Lt. Kevin Bobo said one man’s ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend were living in the home. Investigators said one woman’s husband and ex-boyfriend were also living in the home.

The only way this situation could have been any more trailer trashy is if they also had a meth lab.

Seven people are charged with unlawful neglect of children in this case:

Aaron Eugene Dodson
Andy Lee Dunbar
David Russell Hayes
Brianna Hope Henderson

Secoy Koch-Miller

Wisconsin woman accused of raising kids in squalor:

Burnett woman charged with child neglect:

I admit, I’m still trying to lose some post-pregnancy weight, so losing my appetite after reading about this case isn’t a big loss. However, the details leave me feeling infuriated and wondering how anyone could be so devoid of any sympathy and compassion, especially for their own offspring.

Okay. On to the story.

25-year-old Secoy S. Koch-Miller of Burnett, WI is the “mother” of two boys, ages 2 months and 2 years. The baby daddy of the infant, while in jail, reported to detectives that when he had been at the home of Koch-Miller, the residency seemed uninhabitable. Articles don’t state the reason for his jail sentence, but we do know he had at least enough sense to report the squalor.

Detectives then spoke with human services, and the case worker, familiar with Koch-Miller, stated she had visited the home beforehand but was always denied entrance. Hmm…I wonder why.

Luckily, baby daddy’s statement was enough to get a warrant, and officers and the case worker entered the home last November. What they found was extremely deplorable.

The craptastic home was filled with so much junk, that some rooms were blocked off due to the sheer volume of stuff that had been hoarded.

According to one article, “the kitchen contained several dirty dishes, dead flies and other bugs and cat feces. The inside of the refrigerator and freezer was covered in black mold, maggots and decayed food. There was cold water, but no hot water, and the bathroom had only a toilet. The pipes for the shower and bath appeared to have been cut off. The toilet did not appear to be working.”

Yup, the toilet wasn’t working because the septic tank was too full.

Upon examination of the children, the 2-year-old was found to weigh only 20 pounds. That’s not a huge surprise considering what had been found in the fridge. The poor boy had bug bites all over his body, a bruised eye, and had spiders and spider eggs in his hair. (The thought of the little guy like that makes me want to cry!) To make horrific matters worse, he also had a respiratory and ear infection that required antibiotics.

The infant, on the other hand, was found in better condition, growing at a “more normal rate.”

Fortunately, the children were placed in foster care and the toddler has gained weight.

Koch-Miller was charged with neglecting a child causing bodily harm, a felony, and neglecting a child, a misdemeanor. An initial court appearance is scheduled for March 10th.

And as far as the home is concerned, Burnett town leaders are considering the condemning the building. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

“The Hills Have Eyes” – Australian style

The Australian families that hold dark secrets of incest and abuse

The case of incest and depravity which came to rest in the hills of a quiet country town

And we’re back to the cricket. Real life has been calling and in between work and study, there just hasn’t been the time for the writing. This story is about a month or so old and has been featured on The Dreamin’ Demon, but because it happened in Australia, I’m going to cover it here.

A massive inbred family had been discovered in a hidden valley, southwest of Sydney. Four generations of brothers and sisters, fathers and daughters, and uncles and nieces had been mating with each other, producing all in all 40 adults and children. Among the children was a five year old girl whose parents were the only ones who weren’t brother and sister. The discovery of the inbreds has been described as one of the worst cases of incest to have ever been made public.

Police discovered the clan, who go by the name of Colt, after reports were made about dirty children living in the hills. They were often seen with the clanswomen at the shops and did not seem to attend any sort of school. When the cops managed to track down where the children and women were coming from, they discovered a squalid settlement made up of rotting caravans and filthy sheds. Inside, the stoves and cooking appliances were caked in dirt and filth, rotting vegetables lay in a broken fridge. Exposed wiring and a chainsaw were accessible to the children. There was no sewerage connection, electricity or running water. Oh, and a kangaroo was sleeping on one of kids’ beds.

One of the sheds where the clan lived

The Colt clan were made up of Betty (46), Martha (33), and Rhonda (47). Betty slept with her brother Charlie and two of her daughters. Genetic tests showed that Betty’s children and grandchildren were born from related parents. The family has been traced back to a set of great grandparents who were brother and sister, and the family has self-perpetuated from there.

The  younger children were affected as follows:

Betty’s children: Bobby (15) couldn’t walk properly, had skin issues and needed dental work. His speech was unintelligible and he wet the bed constantly. Learning was at kindergarten level; Billy (14) underweight, stunted growth, hearing and sight problems, unintelligible speech, learning difficulties and unable to read or count; Kimberley (14) and her daughter Raylene were underweight and didn’t know how to wash or brush their teeth; Brian (12) had no concept of hygiene and extensive dental problems. Betty’s older daughter Tammy (27) had three children, one of which had died of genetic deformities associated with inbreeding. Her children had been fathered by her brother Derek (25). All in all, Betty had 13 children, some fathered by her brother and some fathered by her own father Tim.

Martha’s children: Albert (15) and Jed (14) both had issues with speech, hygiene and dental problems; Ruth (7) was neglected and malnourished and she didn’t know what toilet paper was or how to use it (cue itchy feeling). Her sister Nadia (9) told of sexual involvement with her brothers (no doubt encouraged by the inbred breeders). The brothers had tied Nadia and their 13 year old niece-cousin to a tree naked. Martha’s children may have also been fathered by Tim.

12 children were removed from the compound. The youngest, who was only aged 5 years, was the only child to not have related parents. Perhaps it was Uncle ‘Roo that was her father? Or a hapless backpacker who inadvertently wandered into the campsite? The other 11 children had their inbreeding confirmed by geneticists who took mouth swabs from all of the people living at the camp.

Despite their horrible start to life, the children are now doing well in foster care. Some have been placed in treatment programs for the sexualised behaviour that their aunty-mums and daddy-uncles encouraged. All have made progress with schooling and hygiene. The aunty-mums have taken varying degrees of responsibility for the incest and sexual abuse of the children. Except for Betty, who for some reason still has supervised contact with her children-siblings. She denies any wrongdoing and her lawyer has disputed the court’s findings with the genetic testing.

So much WTF. I told Trench it’d be a good one.

Obituary for Quinten

I happened upon this story, as I tend to do when I trawl the ‘net for other things. I shared a link with Trench, who then offered me a CNN news link. Unfortunately, this seems to be the only “legit” news link I have come across, which is very sad. We have had to rely on all the sites that Quinten’s sister have published on to get more information. There are photos of the living conditions that the boys were forced to endure, plus photos of Quinten and his brother Cameron.

This story is about a sister, Valerie Wood-Harber, who was brave enough to blow the whistle on the poor living conditions to which her bio breeder Michael Wood had subjected her younger brothers Cameron and Quinten. She alleges that all the housework and care of Quinten was foisted upon young Cameron. You see, Quinten has a ring chromosome disorder which caused him to be unable to care for himself, use the toilet, feed himself, walk or talk. Instead of Mr. Wood caring for his son like he should have done, it is alleged that he just gave up and allowed Quinten to become gravely ill without seeking medical help for him. It is on a grubby, pee stained couch that Quinten died at the age of 15 years, holding the hand of his best friend and brother Cameron.

When Cameron told Valerie of the poor living conditions, as well as physical and emotional abuse that their own father was subjecting them to, she made a difficult yet sensible decision – she called Child Welfare Services and sang like a canary. They promised her that they would do a home study and that everything would be okay. Three weeks passed, and nothing was done. Valerie tried her damnedest to clean the trailer up and buy food for the boys. It was all in vain. The trailer would be exactly the same way when she returned the next time. The fridge would be empty again. Cameron told her that if it weren’t for her buying groceries, they would probably starve.

Valerie had taken the boys in after a mere three days of discovering that they existed, when their father took off to work overseas. She looked after them for 4 years, right up until Quinten started having issues with living with a “stranger” and Cameron needing his dad. Valerie did not have the time nor the resources to get the boys the help they needed, so with a heavy heart, she sent them back to their dad. She couldn’t have known that this decision would have cost Quinten his life. She had begged her father to let her take the boys until he got back on his feet, but he allegedly threatened her with never seeing the boys again if she implied that he was anything less than a good father to them. He would also have her charged with kidnapping, and because she lived in the next state, it would have been a felony.

Michael Wood is currently free from prosecution, as there had been NO investigation made by social services. Quinten’s death was officially caused by pneumonia, which the coroner blamed on his ring chromosome condition. Quinten was scrawny and malnourished, but again that was blamed on his condition.

Valerie is working around the clock to see her father brought to justice and to see Oklahoma Social Services investigated for their role in Quinten’s death.

I took offence to the poor reporting skills of the journo who wrote the CNN article. It barely touched on the accusations of child abuse made by Valerie and basically made it out to be a sob story. However, it does provide more opportunities to feel contempt for Michael Wood. According to the article, Wood claimed that Quentin suffered from recurrent ear infections which antibiotics could not clear. Valerie states that Quentin never became sick when in her care. He also claimed that he went to DHS for help with Quentin (um, your daughter offered to take the boys and you nearly bit her head off with threats of kidnapping charges). DHS declined to comment on whether there was any record of Wood visiting DHS. He even went as far as to blame his imaginary friend God for Quinten’s death. No sir. You kept them in a hovel, you didn’t buy any food and you rejected your daughter’s pleas to take better care of the boys. This is squarely on you.

It is so sad that there wasn’t much more on news sites and that I had to rely on unofficial new sights. Valerie is trying hard to get her brother’s story told, and I hope by putting it on BB, that it will help.

RIP Quinten Douglas Wood.

Boys pulled from house full of cat shit, can only speak in grunts

Boys found in Denver house full of cat faeces spoke in grunts

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/suspects-in-child-abuse-of-four-boys-found-in-filthy-conditions-have-faced-similar-charges-before

Here’s a horrifying tale, just in time for Hallowe’en. Try not to scream when you see the mugshot.

Wayne Sperling, 66, and Lorinda Bailey, 35, are charged with multiple counts of child abuse.

A dirty wizard and his dimwitted apprentice

Four boys were pulled from a filthy house in Denver, CO. They were filthy, three of them were still in nappies and could only speak in grunts, according to reports. Their breeders, Wayne Sperling (66) and Lorinda Bailey (35) have been charged with multiple counts of child abuse. They are repeat offenders, with charges dating back as far as 2006.

The latest act of foul foolishness was discovered when Lorinda took the youngest boy (2) to the doctor for an apparent cut on his head. The doctor, not being stupid unlike the two numbskulls up there, also noticed suspicious bruising behind the boy’s right ear consistent with pinching and called the police. The doctor also noticed that the child smelt like cigarette smoke, was unwashed and his speech was far behind what was normal for a 2 year old.

When the police and Denver social services turned up to the house, they observed that three other children aged 4, 5, and 6, all appeared to be the same size and two of the children were only wearing nappies. That’s not the worst of it…

The house was redolent with the stench of a decomposing animal, so badly that the police couldn’t stand to be inside. They couldn’t locate the source of the smell, because every surface inside the house was covered in flies. That’s a fuckload of flies, and that judgement is something coming from someone who lives in the Land of the Flies. Lorinda, the foul temptress of the faeces, had the gall to deny that the state of the house was dirty or unhygienic, adding (and I quote)

“The feces looks like human but it’s the cats”

Oh, that makes it all better then…NOT!!! Are you fucking kidding me? Cat poo contains many harmful parasites, and can cause toxoplasmosis in young children. It can also cause worms, plus it contains all the other nasty germs that you find in human shit such as e-coli and salmonella. Under the boys’ bunk beds, the feline faeces was 1 – 2 inches thick on the floor. There was also cat piss and dead flies on the floor where the boys would play. Lorinda was allegedly living in another unit away from the boys but claimed to see them every day. Interesting. She thinks that cat shit/piss and dead flies everywhere aren’t unhygienic, yet refuses to live in the mess. And then consigns her children to fester in that filth.

This isn’t the first ride at the rodeo for these rednecks. They were charged in 2006 and 2009 with child abuse, with the latter resulting in the kids being taken. So why the fuck were they given back to these creeps?

Shame on you, Colorado. And to think that I wanted to stay at the Stanley Hotel at Estes Park (where The Shining was filmed) and go skiing in Aspen, as well as see the Adirondacks. Lift your game, otherwise you won’t be seeing my tourist dollars!

And please outlaw incest, it looks like that father-daughter relationship is a little too friendly…

AdminRaptor: Welcome to the Bad Breeders Internet Game Show (otherwise known as BBIGS)!

Jimmy: The game no one wants to play because contestants generally lose!

Adminraptor: I’m AdminRaptor, and tonight, along with co-host Jimmy, who is actually just a sarcastic fictional extension of myself, we have a new contestant! This is Cheryl Darlene Dudley of St. Peters, Missouri. She is 37 years old and a “mother” of two children. One child is one year old (22 months, almost 2) and the other child is seven years old. She doesn’t look too happy. Why isn’t she happy?

Jimmy: She’s sitting in jail right now on a $30,000 bond!

AdminRaptor: Indeed she is! Although that sounds a little low, doesn’t it Jimmy?
Jimmy: Very low.
AdminRaptor: Ridiculously low
Jimmy: Insanely low.
AdminRaptor: Indescribably low.
Jimmy: Lower than what I predict this woman’s IQ is.
AdminRaptor: I stand corrected.

Anyway, you’ll understand the “low” comments when I tel you what she’s n jail for. Well, it’s simple really… She tied her 22-month old (one year, almost two) child to her garage, outside, so that the child wouldn’t run out into the street.

Jimmy: I think the real reason is so the child wouldn’t run away in general from their lunatic mother.

AdminRaptor: More than likely. Police came to her house when a neighbor/witness called them reporting that a child was tied to the garage. When they got there, the child was no longer tied to the garage…But of course, Cheryl forgot rule #2 of dealing with the police during an investigation.

Jimmy: What’s rule #2?
AdminRaptor: Rule #2 is “Shut the fuck up.”
Jimmy: …What’s rule #1?
AdminRaptor: Rule #1 is “Don’t break the fucking law.”
Jimmy: Ah, good rules to abide by.

AdminRaptor: Indeed they are. But Cheryl broke rule #2 and didn’t shut the fuck up. Instead, she did admit to tying her child to the garage so that she wouldn’t run away. Then, when police searched the house, they found a loaded rifle in the one-year-old’s crib. And how did Cheryl explain that? Oh,  she heard a noise out back and grabbed her gun, set it down in the crib, and forgot that it was there.

Jimmy: Hey, that’s a legitimate excuse! I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve walked by my child’s crib and thought “Hey, that there bed would make a mighty fine gun cabinet!
AdminRaptor: Not funny.
Jimmy: Okay, how about this one: Maybe this is just some liberal conspiracy cover-up and the gun really belonged to the one-year-old and the police were just trying to deprive her of her Second Amendment rights?
AdminRaptor: What the fuck.
Jimmy: ‘MURIKA. THEY’RE TAKIN’ OUR FREEDOMS!
AdminRaptor: Rule #2 applies to this situation too, Jimmy.
Jimmy: Shutting the fuck up, now.
AdminRaptor: Good. Thank you.
Jimmy: Maybe that’ll be the headline for this case on Fox News…
AdminRaptor: JIMMY!
Jimmy: Bazinga!

AdminRaptor: Anyway, as the police continued to search. They found pills in the bedroom that was shared by the 7-year-old child, within reach of said child. Cheryl said she didn’t know what the pills were–just that they helped her sleep and she had trouble sleeping. There were also 5 dogs in the house that were removed from the home along with the children after this search. Dog feces were scattered about the house, and the basement had a number of used diapers on the floor, and things near the water heater that presented a fire hazard. There was also spoiled food in the kitchen/refrigerator, and brown smears of unknown origin in the refrigerator as well. `

Jimmy: Ew. Just. Ew.

AdminRaptor: And she is sitting in jail with a $30,000 bond with 7–SEVEN–counts of endangering the welfare of a child and 1 count of child abuse. So now you understand why Jimmy and I feel that this is a ridiculously low amount for bond. Oh, and there was physical abuse as well. Not only were flea bites and scratches found on the toddler, and bruises on her that Cheryl admitted to causing. The bathroom also looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months as well. Oh, and the back door was always open because the glass of the door was broken. The full details can be read on the probable cause papers in the sources.

And unfortunately, I can’t think of the best way to end this blog post except to say that I hope that she is held responsible for her actions and that the children (and the dogs too) find a good home with loving families that will love and care for them like they deserve.

Jimmy: Too serious, bro.

AdminRaptor: Rule #2, Jimmy.

Kids left alone inside storage unit

New Jersey mother charged after 2 kids found in storage unit

Mother breaks down in court as she tells how she had to live with her two children in a filthy storage unit measuring just 10ft x 5ft

Sheena Johnson faces court, charged with child endangerment, criminal mischief, domestic violence and violating a restraining order.

This story was from a couple of days ago, and I thank crys for sending in the tip. I have heard of people living in storage units as an alternative to a flat, but I thought it was an urban myth.

Sheena Johnson (27) has been charged with 2 counts of child endangerment after her 5 and 10 year old sons were found all by themselves in a storage unit in New Jersey. She was originally being arrested for criminal mischief  for slashing her ex-fiance’s tyres, but she told police that her two young sons were by themselves in the locker.

In court, Sheena broke down, explaining that she had no other options but to live in the locker. She’d fled her home with her two sons and some stuff, and went to live with a relative. She had a blue with the relative and then moved to a hotel. After that, she spent most of the time moving from hostel to hostel or couch surfing with friends. When she was denied benefits and money ran low, she thought her only option was to live in a storage unit filled with junk.

Sheena and the boys would sleep on the mattress, with blankets stacked on top of them to keep them warm. They would eat takeaways and go to friends’ houses so that they could shower and the boys could watch telly. The boys continued to go to school despite their living conditions. What’s even more strange about their locker, is that half the junk in there looks like it’s broken! The chair’s missing a leg (and wouldn’t be practical in a locker), there’s an old grotty bean bag, some old tacky Easter decorations (???) etc. Come on, Sheena, did you really need to grab an Easter basket when you were fleeing your home?

Sheena tried the usual sob story of how she had it so hard growing up. Born to drug addicted parents, working at 14, pregnant by 16, yadda yadda yadda. Listen, sister. You knew how hard you had it growing up, and you probably swore black and blue that you would never put your own kids through that. That’s no excuse. You did not “run out of options”. There were plenty of options. Stay with the friends that let you use their showers and TVs. Go to a women’s shelter. Not fight with your relative and respect the rules of their house that they so kindly shared with you. Living in a storage locker with no electricity or running water may be fine if you’re single with no kids. But it’s just not good enough when you have children. You cannot let their quality of life slip.

Sheena has also been charged with domestic violence and violating a restraining order, which is interesting. I don’t think it’s a case of the helpless woman fleeing in the middle of the night from her violent and abusive husband. She must have been dealing it out as much as she’s been taking it.

Sheena’s attorney is arranging for her to be put in transitional housing where she can live with her boys. Hopefully she will get back on her feet and make a better life for her boys.

Kids “home alone” in rotting caravan

Couple charged after children found in chained/padlocked camper in Suffolk

NewsChannel 3 looks inside trailer where police say kids were found in horrible living conditions

A pair of not-so-happy campers

Thanks to Muggle for the tip on this one. Before we begin, the terminology in this story will differ. As an Australian, I use the term “caravan” to describe what the Yanks call a “camper”. But when I hear the term “trailer”, I also think of that as being a “caravan” (but a bigger one). When I was growing up, we had a holiday home in the NSW Southern Highlands. Admittedly it was a caravan/camper that was old and rickety, but it was 7 metres (22 ft) long. That’s what I think of when I see the word “trailer”.

Two children were found alone by police in a chained and padlocked caravan in the backyard of a house in Suffolk VA. According to reports, the 2 year old girl and the 6 month old boy were left alone in conditions that were no less than foul. There were shitty nappies strewn about, the beds were covered in pee and crap, the upholstery was infested with fleas and the floorboards were rotting out from under their feet. A news crew reported that when they opened up the trailer, a wave of garbage stink hit them. There were flies clinging to dirty dishes in the sink. The caravan had all the windows boarded up, no air conditioning, and the only power source was an extension cord plugged into the caravan’s electrical inlet.

While police were sorting out the youngsters, who should come moseying along? None other than Jaronda Wilson (23) and her salami swinger. They had gone to the store for some beer and said that they had left Wilson’s brother in law Laron Huston Neal (22) in charge of the children. This was true, but Neal had better things to do than hang out in a smelly old caravan, so he put an egg in his shoe and beat it.

The poor little tackers were covered in mosquito bites and the baby boy had bronchitis, probably from living in a confined space with piss and shit everywhere.

Jaronda and Laron were arrested and charged with abuse and neglect, reckless disregard and cruelty to children. Along with those two, the police arrested Kimberly Shelton (20) for assault, after she beat up another woman so that she could be initiated into a gang. When the police showed up to arrest Kim, that’s when they found the locked caravan.

The owner of the house and caravan, Marvin Askew, claims to not know anything about the conditions of the caravan or that there were children living there. He reckons that his son lived in there and that occasionally he had friends over. Well, Marvin, it’s time to pull your head out of your arse and look around. How could you not know there was something going on? Kids cry and play and stuff, plus people coming and going regularly. It’s time to get your son to clean up the horrific mess that his whore made, and then boot him the fuck out. It’s time he made it in the real world and stopped leaching off Daddy. Maybe if he stopped buying so much beer, he’d have enough money to move out.

The kids were taken into the custody of CPS, where they received medical treatment and were released to their grandfather. Hopefully the gene that made Jaronda enjoy living in filth is just a throwback, and not a family history thing.

(I think I detect a hint of meth-face in Laron, at right)

I put home alone in quotation marks, because that ain’t no home for kids.

Thanks again to Muggle for the tip.

Coronial inquest into death of boy who died in a washing machine

Mum a suspect in son’s washing machine death

Police target parents over washing machine death

A little boy died, along with his pet cat, in a front loader washing machine while his mother took a nap. An inquest has been launched into how the little boy and the cat ended up there.

Rewind to 2010. Kerry Murphy allegedly awoke from a nap on the afternoon of September 20, 2010 at her Perth home and found her 3 year old son Sean Murphy unconscious in the drum of the front loader, along with the body of his pet cat named Snowy. Sean suffered horrendous injuries and went to join Snowy on the Rainbow Bridge. An autopsy was carried out on Sean’s small body, but an exact cause of death could not be confirmed. Sean’s body showed injuries consistent with entrapment, and the coroner ruled that this would most likely have contributed to his death.

When officers turned up to question Kerry and to survey the scene, they found the house to be full of animal shit and smelling of smoke. Not only is it disgusting and unhealthy to smoke inside a house, but Kerry and Sean, along with Kerry’s boy toy Craig Sheppard, were living in a Department of Housing property, where smoking is not allowed inside. Kerry was screaming “I’ve killed my baby, I know it”. Later she explained that what she meant by that was that she felt responsible for Sean’s death because she was sleeping instead of watching him.

Boy Toy and Kerry are still suspects in Sean and Snowy’s deaths, even though Boy Toy was at work that day. Boy Toy is not the father of Sean. The medical examiner was looking for signs of drowning, suffocation and beating but could not determine either way because of the extensive injuries that Sean suffered from being tumbled around in the washing machine.

The inquest has heard that, after mechanical tests performed on the washing machine, that it would have been very difficult to close the door from the inside because the door locked from the outside. Kerry suggested that the dog may have knocked it shut. The police considered that, with enough force, it was possible to push the door hard enough so that it would bounce back and close. However the WA coroner said that it would have been very difficult for Sean to do that, because of the angle of the door in relation to his body. The police agreed with the coroner that it would be a tight fit, even for a 3 year old, and observed that Sean had markings on his body that matched the drum of the washing machine.

More witnesses are expected to testify, along with Kerry and her Boy Toy. The inquest is expected to hear some interesting gems such as how Kerry was trying to get Sean diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and how Kerry was not dealing with motherhood very well.

Kerry and Boy Toy were going to get married, but have since split up.

It’s not unusual to hear of stories of cats accidentally being locked in the washing machine. That’s why you always keep the lid/door closed and double check before setting the machine away. The same goes for when you have children. You teach them not to play in the washing machine. Children are teachable, cats – not so much. I haven’t heard of any autopsy being done on Snowy, but I really hope that this was an accident and that it did not play out like I think it played out. (Kerry killed Snowy to “punish” Sean, Sean screams and cries as any child who has lost a pet would, so Kerry stuffs Sean in the washing machine along with Snowy and sets it away. Or Kerry stuffs both of them in the machine and sets it away because they interrupted her nap) I really hope it’s just Snowy got stuck in the washing machine, Sean tried to save him and they both got stuck. Otherwise, there’s a special prison treatment for people who harm animals and children, and big Sheila is more than willing to dole it out.

The inquest continues.

RIP Sean and Snowy. Cross the Rainbow Bridge together.
